note: the post only got up after our deadline for the birth, and we hadn’t had any PMs to let us know the potential outcome, so natu posted in asteraia. but since this is up, and our post was clearly on time in asteraia, we are using that post as a placeholder to prevent us getting some kind of penalty for a late birth - which we couldn’t afford, due to the circumstances of natu’s health already being a problem - and going to continue this thread to see if things progress in a more favorable way than originally would have happened.
he is anxious with natu so far along before even natu had thought it wise to at last get word from her alpha on her answer. too long, he thinks. it was too long a wait and while he would not remove her from her heart-kin, he bristled at the leisurely manner her predicament was being handled. why not steal him into their care as captive, if need be? he would give freedom, even brotherhood, for his mate. his allegiance was to her, just as his brothers knew it would be. his obedience had always been a choice, his submission to neirin both for the honor of neirin’s being the eldest (the first born on moladion soil) and their growing up after the flood on trenus’s soil-- his birthright despite the rulership of bahamut and jaye.
he was a prince in his own right, the son of their adopted father, and neirin had known from the start that the black wolf would need to find love to make peace with his broken soul. he was the first to suggest mending the broken bond with spirane when fenrir grumbled over his fretted trials there.
but now he is on the borders of spirane, standing just outside as he feared he would be made to stay, and looking out to where natu had gone made him most uncomforted. “Do not fear, Fenrir, or fret. If things do not mend then I will do what must be done and Sven may choose his path. He has done so before,” she says, almost jarring in her decisiveness, and moreso by the sorrow on her face, “I believe he will understand and perhaps none of this needs to be worried for either way,” only he knew better than that. he knew better than that because bias burns hot in the hearts of most moladion wolves with title or claim or nobility in their blood and this place happened to hold it in spades, for all natu’s own kind forgiveness.
natu had spent much of her time here, even in the pregnancy. she had spent so much that the borders of spirane smelled heavily of his presence. always on the outside, but as strong as the presence of the pack itself. he had even bid her to keep to the womb of the packland for her protection… the outskirts of packs being thought impenetrable was the end of many wolves and the theft of even more others.
then through the brush and past the crags that had blocked vision, the scent of the border strengthened with the breeze and fenrir looked above where natu stood and sighted the form of the alpha female who had been none too pleased when last they met. he had not blamed her then, save for the swiftness of her malcontentment with him. his head lowers, his expressiveness of face dissipated and his head lowered as his ears stuck out on either side of his head. the same indifference for her, while still aware of her station, presenting much the same fenrir as she would recall from their last meeting.
“Come Natu, it concerns both of you, and I will not exclude him in this,” and his ears flatten mistrustful and cautious of such a reasonability he had not thought to find in spirane… he watches the alpha only a moment more before he is watching natu follow her down the slope to him, the indifference melting ever so slightly to produce a look of barely restrained concern and utter attentiveness…
at least till the alpha did speak at length about the situation regarding them, at last.
the comment of joyousness did often a tightening of his expression, but as she spoke, he neither interrupted nor made a sound. he listened, just barely restraining her comment on his brotherhood and its being outside of asteraia, when in truth they were within pack borders and housed in dens even nearer to the heart than fenrir would have considered wise if the four had not vowed to be of peace and to watch the borders for iblis and his mother queen. “For you to come and go from my pack lands as you please is something I cannot allow. I would not deem it normal for any rogue to come within my lands unannounced, unknown to the rest of my pack. In saying that, I would not be one to suppose that I could deprive you from one another, nor would that be my wish.” the alpha continues, and he is glad that, at least for the moment, he had held his peace.
“ I am willing to afford you an area within the pack lands where you may den together – there is a structure there which I know to be safe and habitable. Fenrir, you would be allowed to come and go from one specific crossing point, and venture no further into the pack lands than the area I offer you, therefore preventing any interruption to the lives of those who call Spirane their true home.”
he knew the angle that this played, but he knew also what it cost all involved to be done in such a manner. he knew he was not intrusive, nor was he obvious when he wished to be hidden, nor was he one to attract attention if he was not needed… but he supposed if his son still hated him, rather than simply dismissed him as he had done when they last met, then it would cost taliesin. he knew that an alpha who had no oath as iblis had taken from the four brothers and yet allowed an unknown male come and go freely was not wise and her concession on that front was impressive, in a way. he knew too, however, that what this cost natu was the most awful sort of outsiderism he could fathom being party to putting on natu’s shoulders. the constraints on himself, those he neither thought on or considered.
“take me prisoner. make me swear fealty. make me remain in your borders and under guard till you see fit.” he says, low and quiet as his voice often was, “but do not displace natu from the heart of her home for the folly of loving someone you do not have reason to like.” he looks to natu in begging her to keep her peace a moment longer, neither moving or interrupting so much as silently pleading to let him make his mind known. “my brothers know my mind and knew that i would come. my allegiance is natu first, brothers next, and asteraia only by the good will of those brothers. i would be the pot-licker of your mountains if it meant she would not be cast to some reaching corner of spirane.”
he has not, and still does not, look her in the eyes - looking instead at her face in general when he addresses her this last time, “i would be yours to do with as you wished, and only beg you do not make me party to whatever ill might come to be called on my brothers or the place they would be made to defend in return.” and he was not, in any form or style of speech, a liar as he says this thing. prisoner. omega. slave, if she wished it. he was another four paws, sharp mouth of teeth, and sharp eyes to help if she but considered that she had not truly gotten taliesin’s own word for his mind.
“if it is--- your brother that would stay you from considering this, call him to speak for himself. i will do whatever he might require.”
note: ally says that to move this right along, and her lack of much to say, and circumstances that prevent fast posts -- dany may post next. and that any decision reached by dany and fenrir is permitted to be decided by myself for us both.
