Sandusky Tentative 2015 Racing Schedule

SANDUSKY SPEEDWAY RELEASES 2015 EVENT SCHEDULE

Sandusky (OH) - The tentative schedule for the half mile automobile racing facility has been released.
The tradition-entrenched Sandusky Speedway will once again host four weekly racing divisions as well as six different touring series (most of which are open wheel racecars to supplement the track’s already rich history with the almighty supermodified, called by many “the world’s ultimate short track racecar”).
Some schedule highlights include the first ever Main Event Racing Series/ARCA Gold Cup Series co-sanctioned outlaw super late model race to take place outside of the Toledo Speedway (June 20th), the 38th Hy-Miler ISMA Supermodified Nationals (July 23rd-25th), as well as the 28th running of the Main Event Racing Series’ season ending 100 lap event, named plainly the Main Event XXVIII (October 9th-11th).

In the month of April, the track will host two open practice days for any cars who want to test and tune their cars for the upcoming rigorous race season (April 11th and 18th).
The track will then switch gears into the Dick Ensign Memorial Season Opener (April 25th), featuring the Modifieds, Ohio Stocks, Street Stocks, and Hobby Stocks.
Grandstand admission will cost $12 for anyone 13 years of age or older, seniors will be $10, children 6-12 will cost $5, and as with every Sandusky Speedway event, children 5 years of age or younger will get into the main gate for free. Pit pricing is $30 for those 13 or older, $10 for those 4-12 years of age (with paid adult admission), and those 3 years of age or younger will be free of charge.
This pricing system will be the same for the general Sandusky Speedway weekly events, however keep in mind that special events may result in an elevated price on the general admission tickets or pit passes.

In May, the speedway shifts gears into a huge explosion of special events. May 2nd will be the first time the newly redesigned non-wing Buckeye Super Sprints hit the track, after a huge reform in the off season. They will of course be accompanied by the Modifieds, Ohio Stocks, Street Stocks, and Hobby Stocks to bring a beautiful mix of entertainment for both the fan of the fenders and the open wheel fanatic.

The Super Nationals will be in town the following week (May 9th), as the Main Event Racing Series outlaw super late models and the Midwest Supermodified Association both do battle on the half mile speedplant for the first huge event of the season. Street Stocks and Hobby Stocks will also be in attendance to maintain a full card of racing for the pleasure of the fan.

The non-wing Buckeye Super Sprints will again be back at the speedway on May 16th, joined by the Modifieds, Ohio Stocks, Street Stocks, and Hobby Stocks, as well as a bicycle race for the kids.
On Sunday, May 24th, the speedway will host its first of several big money modified races, paying $1000 to the winner of the feature event. These will be ran alongside the other Sandusky Speedway weekly divisions: the Ohio Stocks, Street Stocks, and Hobby Stocks. As May ends, the Sandusky Speedway will host the traditional Friday-Saturday racing it always does at the end of May or beginning of June. On Friday, May 29th, the first Fan Appreciation Night of the 2015 racing season will be held as general admission, hot dogs, beer, and Pepsi products will be just $1 apiece. The fender fans will get their fill as the Speedway’s ever present Ohio Stocks, Street Stocks, and Hobby Stocks will take to the track with the limelight on them for a change rather than the bigger Modified division or special events.

The following day, May 30th, will see the annual Open Wheel Spectacular, comprised of a Midwest Supermodified Association event, the Buckeye Super Sprint non-wing cars, and the extremely popular modifieds.

The following weekend (June 6th and 7th) will see the Rusty Wallace Racing Experience make its first trip to the Sandusky Speedway for the 2015 racing season, followed by another non-wing Buckeye Super Sprint Series race on June 13th. As with most of this series’ races at Sandusky Speedway, they will be accompanied by the Modifieds, Ohio Stocks, Street Stocks, and Hobby Stocks, but the track will also have a candy toss for the kids.

The aforementioned ARCA Gold Cup Series/Main Event Racing Series co-sanctioned race will be on June 20th, with Ohio Stocks, Street Stocks, and Hobby Stocks filling out the card. The following week will be a standard weekly Sandusky Speedway event, with Modifieds, Ohio Stocks, Street Stocks, and Hobby Stocks competing to end the month of June in spectacular fashion.

On the 4th of July, the speedway will have another Fan Appreciation Night with the traditional stock car divisions as well as an Elvis Presley impersonator filling out the show. Make sure to bring the whole family as general admission, hot dogs, beer, and Pepsi products will be just $1 apiece.

On July 11th will be the Matthews Ford Mid-Season Championship races. With non-wing Buckeye Super Sprints, Modifieds, Ohio Stocks, Street Stocks, and Hobby Stocks all competing for the title of mid-season champion, it should be quite an event.
The following week (July 18th), the division lineup will be much the same with the only change being the Vintage Racing Organization of America modifieds will be on the ticket rather than the non-wing sprint cars. This event will also see race cars giving rides to the kids in attendance.

The following week will see what will most likely be the biggest race of the year, as the 38th Annual Hy-Miler Supermodified Nationals will be ran July 23rd-25th. Thursday the 23rd will see the traditional Fan Appreciation Night with the non-wing Buckeye Super Sprints, Ohio Stocks, Street Stocks, and Hobby Stocks.
Friday the 24th will have the speedway hosting the Hy-Miler Friday Night Fast 40 for the International SuperModified Association as well as a $1000-to-win race for the Sandusky Speedway modified division. ISMA’s Hy-Miler 100 lap race will be on Saturday the 25th along with a fifty lap race for the ever expanding ICAR Top Speed Modified Tour.

August will see another appearance by the Rusty Wallace Racing Experience on August 1st and 2nd, followed by three consecutive races with the traditional five divisions of Sandusky Speedway racing: the non-wing Buckeye Super Sprint Series, the modifieds, Ohio Stocks, Street Stocks, and Hobby Stocks.
These races (held on August 8th, 15th, and 22nd) will each have a distinct event scheduled to help bring kids into racing, including another race car ride-along event, a “Gold Rush”, and a bicycle race.

August 29th will see the annual Jaycox/Reed Memorial Race for the Midwest Supermodified Association accompanied by Street Stocks and Hobby Stocks.

September will see appearances by the Rusty Wallace Racing Experience on August 5th, 6th, 12th, and 13th.
On September 19th, the Adkins Glass Championship Night will see champions crowned in the Midwest Supermodified Association as well as the modifieds, Ohio Stocks, Street Stocks, and Hobby Stocks.
The following week will see the 2015 Sandusky Speedway Cavalcade (September 25th-27th).
Friday the 25th will be a practice session for the weekend’s events, as this race is many people’s first race at the speedway all season long.
The following day, Saturday the 26th, will be qualifying, crack of the whip, and heat races for non-wing Buckeye Super Sprints and Vintage Racing Organization of America modifieds as well as the Sandusky Speedway Modified, Ohio Stock, Street Stock, and Hobby Stock divisions.
Sunday the 27th will see a champion crowned in the non-wing sprints as feature events and any necessary preliminaries will be held for the aforementioned divisions.

Fast forward two weeks to see the Pat O’Brien Chevrolet Main Event XXVIII weekend as the Main Event Racing Series meets to crown a champion on October 9th-11th.
Friday the 9th will again be a practice session for the weekend’s events as this race attracts attention from outlaw super late model drivers throughout the country, many of whom have never laid eyes on the historic half mile facility.
Saturday the 10th will see the qualifications and heat races for the Main Event Racing Series as well as the modified and FWD Compact divisions. Compacts will also run any other necessary preliminaries and a feature on Saturday. Sunday the 11th will see the Main Event XXVIII 100 lap race as well as a 40 lap grind for the modified division, with any necessary preliminaries in order to set the starting fields for these events.

It is never too early to worry about next January however and the running of the 36th Annual “Wild Bill” Hart Hangover Race on January 1st, 2016. This race will see the open class nicknamed the Champagne Stocks, the stock class of Moonshine Stocks, and the FWD Compact class of the Whiskey Stocks compete regardless of weather conditions. This race attracts national attention every year and in recent years, has even had an ESPN film crew come to the facility to cover the wild events that take place.
