Sandusky (OH) - The tentative schedule for the Main Event Racing Series outlaw super late models has been released by the prestigious series, listing eleven events currently on the ticket. This schedule includes the return of the outlaw super late models to the historic Mansfield Motorsports Park after several years of the racetrack remaining dormant (May 23rd), one of the prestigious late model events in Indiana (the Stan Perry Memorial on June 13th), as well as the Main Event XXVIII at the Sandusky Speedway, an event widely regarded as the biggest outlaw super late model race for the Midwest (October 9th-11th).
In the month of May, the stars and cars of the Main Event Racing Series will descend upon two of Ohio’s storied half-mile racetracks. First, on the 9th, the series will open its 2015 season at the Sandusky Speedway’s annual Super Nationals with a 75 lap feature event, to be accompanied by the Midwest Supermodified Association, as well as the track’s Street Stock and Hobby Stock divisions. Two weeks later, on the 23rd, the series will be the headliner division at the grand re-opening of the Mansfield Motorsports Park with a special 100 lap event. Also on tap will be the ICAR Top Speed Modified Tour.
In June, the tour will bring 100 laps of outlaw super late model action to three different states, with stops in Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana. First, the tour will be part of the Stan Perry Memorial event at the Angola Motorsport Speedway on June 13th. This race is named after the father of 2011 and 2012 MERS points champion Bud Perry. Shifting over into the Buckeye State again the next week, the Main Event Racing Series will co-sanction an event with the ARCA Gold Cup Series at the Sandusky Speedway for their first co-sanctioned event outside of the Toledo Speedway. The track’s Ohio Stock, Street Stock, and Hobby Stock divisions will fill out the event’s racing card on June the 20th. The following week will see the Ohio based series invade Michigan with a 100 lap event at the Dixie Motor Speedway.
July will see the series stop in Ohio two more times. Midvale Speedway’s traditional 4th of July weekend 100 lap event will remain on July 3rd. Also returning for the second consecutive season is a stop at the Lorain County Speedway complete with a seventy-five lap feature event. August will see two stops, one in Ohio and another in Michigan. First, the tour sets its sights on Dixie Motor Speedway for another 100 lap event on August 7th. August 14th will see the Main Event Racing Series return to the Toledo Speedway in the Miller Lite 100 race co-sanctioned with the ARCA Gold Cup Series.
September 6th will bring the return of the tour to the Midvale Speedway in Ohio. It will take a month for the fender fanatics that follow the Main Event Racing Series to see another race on the schedule, as the series will round out its 2015 season with the twenty-eighth annual running of the Pat O’Brien Chevrolet Main Event XXVIII on October 9th-11th at the Sandusky Speedway. The 9th will be a practice day for the many outlaw super late model, modified, and front wheel drive compact drivers who will be seeing Sandusky for the first time. October 10th will be qualifying and heat races for the outlaw super late models and modifieds. FWD Compacts will also run a full show on the 10th. The 11th will see the 100 lap feature event for the late models as well as a 40 lap grind for the track’s modified division, along with any necessary and proper preliminaries.
The Main Event Racing Series is the premiere outlaw super late model series in the Midwest. The tour is known for attracting some of the best drivers and teams from Ohio, Indiana and Michigan. Two-time NASCAR Xfinity Series event winner Butch Miller has won races on the tour, including the 1994 Main Event VII.
