Viserys wasn't planning on company today. Usually he tried to pick a spot far away from the busier areas of the pack if he wanted to think, but it wasn't as if he made himself too hard to find. So when he heard the sound of another approaching he wasn't exactly surprised. Turning his head slightly, teal eyes caught sight of none of than Haziel, Alchemist of Asteraia and the wolf who had been teaching him the healer trade. He liked and respected Haziel. The brute was a talented healer as well as being a good teacher, and if Viserys didn't know otherwise he might have never known that he was blind. It was impressive how Haziel never let his blindness get in the way, though he supposed that if you grew up with no sight it would be easier to adapt.
The words caused him to snort slightly, casting a glance at the clouds once more. "Maybe not." Viserys said quietly, though he didn't sound convinced. He supposed some part of him knew that what Haziel said was true, but perhaps everything had some sort of spirit. Maybe they weren't alive, but they still had a soul. It was a complicated thought. Did everything feel? The wind, the rocks, the grass? He hated killing living things- if he could abstain from eating meat he would, but unfortunately that was impossible. Viserys always felt guilt when consuming the flesh of another living being. Though they were perhaps not as smart as wolves, he still couldn't ignore the fear that he saw in their eyes and heard in the quickening of their breath.
His ears gave a small flick at Haziel's inquiry, and for a moment Viserys wasn't sure how to respond. The boy gave a small sigh, staring up at the sky. "Maybe in some way it is the clouds that taunt me. I am stuck on the earth with all the trouble that comes with it, while they are free in the sky." he said, his voice uncharacteristically bitter. "Aurai is sick, and with the temperature changing there are days where my legs are so weak I cannot walk at all. Living, it just seems like such a chore."
Viserys sighed once more, closing his eyes briefly. "If my distraction is detrimental to my studies, I apologize. Sincerely. But I just can't seem to clear my mind anymore."
