Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

how long will we blame the devils on our shoulders

I often wonder about the wolves of this land; not just their superficial details but those that run deeper, those that creep in the back of their minds. On the surface, the pack appears like any other after all. I do not think any others notice the mutual distances between each of the pack's members, a strange thing that I grow more and more curious about. Perhaps it is a simple thing, a simple lie told over and over until it becomes a presumed truth: do it for the pack. Hunt for the pack, scout for the pack, speak with the pack in mind... I grow curious of these sentiments for I do not see them in action. Those in the upper positions of the hierarchy meticulously bond with those of a similar social position, diving the lower house from the upper house. Would it be wrong then to assume that any who desired a seat among the upper ranks to be doing it for themselves and their desire to be part of such a niche? If one was to truly do something for the greater good of the pack, then one would not need a name for it. I am honest, at least. I desire control and power, be it named or not. It is just that a named position allows me space to move, the ability to further observe and know those that reside in the upper ranks. After all, they are the one's deemed strong, no? Strength, too, is something I seek.

It is for those reasons, I suppose, that I have taken to meandering through the forests of Taviora this day. I have been busy lately, constantly moving from one place to the other in search of various things from company to conflict, it matters not. I have no intention on allowing that business to fall into a lull, for it is the first time in such a long time that I have truly felt inspired. There is much to be done and much to be heard with the telling of spring. As the ambient temperature rises, so too does the heat of gossip and rumor. Though, it is neither of those that I hear but rather a bark, searching and calling for myself. It calls, too, for the other but such a thing does not bother me. It is even more of an opportunity if she, too, arrives with the intention to teach or to learn. She is my decided competition, it seems, and thus I desire to learn more of her too. Two birds, as they say.

I have no issue with making myself known as I move from the forests towards the younger female, observing her physique first and foremost. Already, she is a sizable female that surely verged on the size of some adults. One would typically expect that to give her an advantage in her training but... I suppose we shall find out. Ultimately, it is her drive that will determine her success. Both of their successes, truly.

I move to be positioned on the opposite side of Reian's approach, maintaining a short distance. I do not feel the need to coddle and by physically close with what is essentially a stranger - I see no need for such actions. They will not help her learn, after all, and that is what she has called for today. If she desired warmth and affection then she should return to her mother's teat and not what is essentially a battlefield. Those that threaten one's self, one's family or one's pack will not offer her such kind gestures and she would do best to learn that swiftly. Calloused? Perhaps and yet, it is what I was taught and what I know to be productive. It is the same principle as hunting - we do not feel mercy and love for the creatures we consume. We do not stop to whisper words of kindness into the ears of the deer beneath us. Those are, of course, lessons for another day.

"You have called us to be taught, yes?"

I ask simply, casting my gaze towards her with a slight tilt of my head, an ear flickering forward in inquiry. I hope, at least, that is why she has called us and I hope that is why Reian has come, in order to teach and learn herself. It would be troublesome if we have all come with separate intentions, no? To be sure, I turn towards Reian, observing her but for a moment before I pose the question to her, as well.

"And you, Reian, to teach?"

If not, then I shall leave I suppose to find another such as Luk to educate on such matters. There are others, after all, even those such as Dexter who pose as a constant curiosity. I have an interest in both of these wolves, yes, but I have not the time to spend playing the part of a weasel.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
