To say that the sight before her wasn’t interesting was a bit of an understatement. She watched with her usually blank stare as the wolf spoke to himself repeatedly and continued to announce different names. It was hard for her to keep up because his voice would change from soft to loud and back again. Her ears were not as good as they should be so rather than try to ask him to speak up, Lamia remained silent and waited for the loon to be done with his lengthy introduction. At one point, she heard them (no, he!) say that Kneph was trapped inside. At this, the young wolfess felt her ears prick up in the attempt to hear better. They (he) spoke quietly and the healer cocked her head to the side. What in the name of the nine hells was going on?

Enough of this! Lamia moved forward after the wolf had eaten the carcass. She ignored his invitation to eat, feeling her stomach knot up a bit, and allowed her orange eyes to gaze deeply into his white ones. They reminded her of the white capped surf of the ocean she was fond of. They were mysterious but dangerous too. There was a story behind those eyes and the girl found herself wanting to know more about him. She wanted to meet this Kneph, not Nox or Dung…or was it Drudge? ”Let me see him. I want to meet Kneph, the one who owns this body. I do not have time for games. Come out!” Perhaps it had been the years she had spent watching her father talk to some of the lower ranking wolves or maybe it was the harsh demon blood that ran through her veins. Whatever it had been it had made the child bark out loudly and with the confidence of an adult.

Lamia was only a child in body. Her mind could not wait to grow up and so it did so of its own accord. The healer of the swamp stood before this crazy wolf with very little fear in her heart. What could he do to her? Should he attack the girl knew without a shadow of a doubt he would suffer at the fangs of her father. Perhaps this over confidence would one day be her downfall, but for now it gave her strength. Quietly, Lamia watched the wolf before her carefully, ready to bolt should he attack, and waited to see if her summon for Kneph had worked.
