We laughed at fate and mourned her;

Today was a peculiar spring day. Although the sun was out and the winds were slowly dying down there still seemed to be a chill in the air. Something extremely odd with the season about to change to the blistering warmth of summer. The spring birds suddenly stopped their singing, a scream of an eagle above, their feathers ruffled by a haunting of their own species. It was always wise for prey to leave when a predator was around. Though today a haunting predator that was rarely ever seen was making its way through the thicket. This obsidian creature clung to the few shadows, bright violet eyes narrowed at the familiar outline shape of a badger. Today the large black and white rodent felt the need the need to dig in search of food without thinking that today it would be on a larger mammals’ menu. This elusive creature was seen only by a few. A few seasons ago she was well known within the area, especially in Diveen, as the one who helped save the White Angel King. Though no one knew her name. This ghastly creature had roamed the shadows of Diveen for five seasons now and no one, not even her own flesh and blood, knew of her name. All her life the tormented she-wolf was misunderstood by others and due to her harsh treatments from her kind in the past she had grown into the very thing they always feared – a monster.

However, her reputation had yet to catch up to her here. She had murdered one wolf here and it hardly sprung up on anyone’s radar except for that wolf’s children. Yet who would believe this particular lupine was the one behind it? After all she saved Heyel and his son from a mountain lion so she couldn’t be the culprit. There was a reason why that wolf had to die…a valid reason and sadly no one but her was privy to that knowledge. Today she was not on the search for her species flesh. Instead she was acting out what any wolf did when they were hungry. The badger that continued to dig in the ground in search of its meal was her target. Staying with in the thicket she would stay still with one paw raised in anticipation for the right moment. Ebony lips pulled back slowly to reveal her sharp weaponry and suddenly her black form darted out and her opened jaw enclosed around the badgers’ neck. As her ivories sunk down into the creatures flesh it would swing itself back and forth, attempting to get out her clutches, growling and squealing, all the while she twisted her own form and slowly tightened her jaw around its throat until the badger stopped moving. Dropping her kill on the ground the lupine would observe her surroundings before she laid herself down and brought her meal between her paws.

It had been a long time since she had lived in Diveen. She had been patched up here and told by Heyel that she wasn’t allowed to speak his tongue nor tell anyone of their encounter with the mountain lion. Always she stayed away from the pack lands. Packs made her feel suspicious. Her own pack thought of her as a cursed monster after seeing the grey mark between her eyes, a sign that she was nothing but a sinister creature. So, she lived by their fear and became what they always thought she would be. Though here in this new land she was unknown and she would prefer to remain that way. Every now and then she could be spotted by like any haunted creature she would disappear suddenly. Tick Tock knew that she couldn’t stay along the borders of Diveen. So, she quietly ate her meal all the while keeping her eyes peeled for anyone should they wander too close for her comfort. Perhaps today on this rare sighting Ferox wouldn’t be so bored.

Tick Tockgoes the clock, even forthe monster.
