Arthfael
If the girl got to go, he got to go. Arthfael was not being left in the den, not when that little monster got to go. Oops. That was his sister, right, he wasn’t supposed to do the whole ‘it’s a monster’ thing. They were all monsters, though, and he was going to embrace that. Embrace it, roll with it, run with it in the best way possible. He could do that. Maybe he would let that part of it seep into his blood, like something… something else. Something silvery ran in his blood, and the creature had to find it. Find it and latch on. That was the best way possible, right? Hold onto whatever he could and let it carry him for as long and as far as it would go.
He stalks quietly across the ground, moving behind Ankh so as not to alert her to his presence. He’s closer, closer, closer… and then he’s pouncing at mom. Another girl is there too, and Ankh is right—she looks like mom. Tail wagging, eyes bright, pouncing at her paws. What a laugh the moment was, looking up at the woman and his sister and the stranger. “I heard my name.” That’s all, his ears pricked and eyes wide. He could do that. He could pretend that the only reason he’d come was the fact that he’d heard his name. That the observant creature had, he’d heard it at a distance. Arthfael, a name that was bigger than the young man all on his own.
And here he was, looking at the group that was before him. Sister, mother, stranger… strange that was not a stranger to mother. Calculating gaze, maybe one that came with a slight discomfort. That’s right, he would discomfort strangers, maybe. He could. He had the ability, but this one was less strange. This one was less strange and more… familiar? But not really? He was confused. Arthfael was overthinking again, and he couldn’t be faulted for that. Just a pup, remember?
