During the day, sentries guard the sleeping. When the sky is dark and the moon dances with the stars, this is when the real fun begins. Munashii Gekko's forest is the only haunt where you can find your local misfits all in one place. A land of the forbidden and forgotten, a place that is riddled with dangers of a whole different kind. The wolves here have long misplaced their rightful minds, and now live like creatures damned to prowl and lurk through the night. It's easy to lose yourself here, sanity was sure to fade away and wither; there was never anything normal about this nefarious nest. The silent threats that whispered in the breeze were enough to deter even the largest of demons around. It was not strength nor wit that ensured your survival here with Eric, and challengers would be torn down with a morose lethality - there was nothing left in his cold blue eyes that promised mercy to anyone who dared to overstep their worth. So, would you give up the sun for the moon and stars? Do you have enough vigor to become a well regarded sentry? - Put on a game face to step up and pass the sepia king's test or turn and leave before he catches your scent. You never know who wants to snack on your delicious blood in this forest.

You don’t know how beautiful that second was—she wished she could repeat it in her head forever. His pyrite gaze slid secretly to hers, as if she had just shared the most valuable secret of all. His breath was in short gatherings, and she smiled, unconsciously, at the experience her heart was having. It was just a look. A simple response to having his name called. Yet here she was, practically allowing herself to melt against him. Again, she wished she could store this moment in time in a small glass box, where she could open it and peer inside every once in a while. She wondered, if only for a moment, if she could share the same feeling with him. What is it? Words escaped his jowls, and they swept right over her head. Indeed, she wondered, what was it? Why had she spoken? Hesitance spoke it’s own words in his eyes and her eyes wandered slightly, thinking to herself that she knew exactly what he was thinking.

Was she scared?

No.

This was Vladya. Sure, he could be terrifying. He could be downright cruel at times. But he was kind, brave and strong; at least in her eyes. If, and this was IF, a union were to occur, she would not be frightened in his care. Even now, here in a small area with a varg who had wounded, even killed, dozens upon dozens (no doubt) alongside a group of others who did the same deed… and she was not even frightened of his tongue slathering over his pearly daggers. Her gaze flickered up again, her heart racing when she realized that she had lowered it for a considerable amount of time. Would he feel something against her now? Had she given him the wrong cue? It’s okay, kid. We don’t have to-- Her listening followed him closely, listening with complete and utter attentiveness. But this was not the right thing to do. For she was listening so well that her hearing had been struck by his voice, the tone, and even the volume of it itself. And then a whip of thunder slashed across the clouds, just when the rain had seemed to lighten. Vladya was the first to jump. He cursed, cutting off his own sentence, and his skull slammed into the ceiling of the cave. Kobato, totally still holding her childish fear of thunder, closed her eyes tight and slunk down to the ground at the same time her knight collided with the rock. She pressed her multi-colored cloak into the brute’s pale one, holding her breath. It passed as quickly as it came, but she remained down. Embarrassment flooded her cheeks with heat, and her eyes were swimming a bit. Knowing that her own dragon had been frightened by the impact had sent her heart into even more of a frenzy. It was only after the fact that she realized she had let out a slim screech, surprise and terror having mixed together to form nameless letters on her lips. Now, totally idiotically, she was cowering into him, shivering. Are you okay? She counted her breaths. 1… 2… Did that scare you? 3… 4… Oh, shit, that was ridiculous. She opened her eyes and blew out a breath, cautiously raising her head once more, careful not to bump it into Vladya’s, since he was right ne… her eyes caught his own.

And suddenly nothing else mattered. She knew that Vladya almost always tried to hide his true emotions. He kept them under a lovely velvet curtain, teasing the one-woman crowd, herself, every once in a while with a small sneak behind it. But those sneak peek’s had never lasted more than a few seconds at most. So it was, to her great surprise and enjoyment that he was there now with worry written all over his face. She felt like crying. Why? Because she was sure that from the moment the thunder subsided, from the moment she had pressed into him, and while she had sat there, regathering herself… he had been watching her carefully. Even now, as he spoke, she could see it. And it enchanted her. Positively. Absolutely. Enchanted her. Let’s… let’s go deeper. In the cave, I mean. It might be more insulated against the ah, thunder. Kobato said nothing for a moment, then, when a few moments passed by, Vladya got up. Kobato was about to laugh at his previous words, having finally realized that he was feeling… perchance awkward? If that was the right word for it. But—she stopped the tones before they could even let their music through her mouth. Vladya was over the top of her—not in the way that… well… males are usually over the top of femmes, but instead in a colliding way—a way that pups would show when tumbling over one another. His abdomen touched her spinal cord. Kobato felt her heart clench a bit. Neither one of them spoke at all. Not even when he had gotten off of her and had moved further into a deeper portion of the cave that wasn’t as height-threatened as the part she was still in. She watched him carefully, memorizing the way his cloak moved against his muscles. The demon flopped to the ground, dust rising a bit around him before he called out to her. From here, he looked threatening. His pools were but mere slivers of broken glass instead of a full looking glass. But she didn’t feel any anger falling over his bodice. And therefore, she stood up.

She shook herself off before moving towards him, almost as if she had to gather her courage in order to do so. Would this change her life? Come here. His words were predatory. And boy did she feel the part of a hare. If she were to turn heel and run, she had no doubt, with that look on his face, that he would follow. Was it possible for a mouse to fall in love with a housecat? She moved herself towards him until she was right in front of his being. She looked down, eyes smiling as they mostly had and would always do. There had only been a few accounts where Kobato’s eyes had not been smiling. Where even her soul could not shine through the darkness. But this was not on her mind. Instead, she was … blank. She had a blank slate. Then, the girl took a breath, let it out and with it, lowered herself beside the masculine form. She sat so that her front paws fell over his own—and then she moved her head so that she was caressing his facial features in the same way that he himself had been doing to hers just minutes ago. Again. Would this change her life tonight?

She had a feeling that, no matter what happened, it would.
