A loud boom of thunder woke the titan from his sleep. The large brujo had been slumbering in a den he had made, curled up to stay warm from the cold winter chill. He did not struggle with the cold though, his thick white coat always kept him warm, and in the summer he was often hot and did not venture out much during the day. He was a large brute, strong and built for the harsh winters. He had only recently experienced the warmth of summer when he traveled to the lands of Blossom Forest. Before he had come here he had been raised in the harsh climates of the winter, snow and blizzards a constant factor in his life where he was from. With an irritated growl Ghost rose from his sleeping position, pushing his form out of the den. He figured if he was up he might as well walk around a bit. While some lupines would want to venture inside during a storm, especially one at night, Ghost was not like most lupines. He always preferred the darkness of the night to the light of day. And the rain was not something that would stop the brujo from wandering around at night like he had done so many times in his past.
The rain streaked down his white pelt, soaking him in a matter of minutes. There had not been heavy rain like this in a while, and he enjoyed the refreshing feeling of the water on his skin. The brute’s paws were heavy on the ground as he slowly walked around the terra. He still did not know if he truly belonged here, or if he belonged anywhere. He had never felt like he belonged, like he had never had a home. The titan was bastard born, and his “family” always made sure he knew that. The mother of his half-siblings always made it very clear that she hated him and wished him dead every day. His father had kept him and raised him with the rest of his true born heirs, but being raised as an outcast in a family of royalty had taken its toll on the brute. Every day it was clear that he did not belong. Even though the brute had the same training as the rest of the siblings, he always felt left out. Their youngest sister, Nymeria, was one of the only ones that had truly loved him as a real sibling. Her and Grey Wind, his brother of the same age, were the only two that made life bearable. Sure, some of the other siblings had tolerated him and were friendly to him, but then there was Lady. The older female had followed after her mother and made it very clear that he did not belong there.
And now here he was, wandering the territory of another pack that he did not know whether he even belonged here or not. It was more of a whim than anything else that made him join this pack. It was Cade’s call that had gotten his attention and made him come into the pack lands. She had called not only to her packmates, but to anyone that was looking for a home. Normally the brute would have just wandered on, like he had been doing for so long now, but there was something that drew him to these lands, something that made him go in and bring himself to Cade. There had been a few other lupines already gathered when he arrived, but it was to Cade that he had spoken to, asking to join her pack and be loyal to her and the lupines in these lands.
And that’s where Ghost found himself. Wandering the lands of a pack he had pledged his loyalty to, but did not know if he even truly belonged here, thinking of his family and the past that always haunted him. Trapped in his thoughts the brute had not even realized where he was or that the rain had stopped. His paws stepped in the mud, evidence of the rain that had been there not so long ago. The brown mud was the only thing that tainted his perfectly white coat, his pelt still dripping from the rain that had soaked it. The brujo paused to shake out his fur, water droplets spraying around him, but it made his coat drastically lighter than before. He was still getting used to the territory and had not been paying much attention to where he had wandered to, but the scent of lupines reached his nares. He could tell it was more than one, and they were close by. For a moment he went to turn around, to head back to his den, but he had not had anyone to talk to since he had gone to Cade so long ago. And he hated to admit it, but he was lonely, but he would never actually say that. He had never relied on anyone else and had always lived a life of solitude, but occasionally the company of others could be tolerated.
The brute continued on his path, for once heading in the direction of the other lupines instead of away from them. The scents mingled into one when he drew closer, as if they were all related somehow, but he knew there was more than one lupine where he was headed. When he finally stepped through the trees and was visible to the other three lupines he was afraid he had stepped into something he should not have. He froze, his crimson orbs darting around to take in the other lupines that were already there. All three had unique coloring and markings that he had never seen before. The blood red colored lupines must be related he realized, how else would those colors come about? He was not one to speak often, so it was not unlike him to be silent, but he stayed silent longer than he had planned. Finally, he seemed to gain his voice again, ”Hello, I hope I am not interrupting anything.” He paused, taking a few more steps towards the group and stopping again, still a good distance away. ”My name is Ghost, I’m still new here.” And he left it at that, not asking their names or who they were, assuming they would tell him if they cared to share. And if he seemed unwanted, like he was so used to, well then he could just leave.
