She bounded happily, every inch of her exuding confidence and excitement; her tail flopped about and yet her ears stayed as alert as ever. However, she had never been trained like her mother, or like anybody for that matter, and though she heard the stirring of grass and the whisper of the wind, she never put deep thought into it. As far as she was concerned, it was simply what nature did. However, there was a new scent that lingered in the breeze, one she had never smelt before. The moment she could smell it, she paused in her movements, ducking low out of instinct. After all, it was something terribly new and all the confidence in the world could not stop her from having that instinctual worry. Something wasn't right. What kind of smell was that?
Her suspicions, or instincts at least, were confirmed as her mother's posture stiffened into something more... formidable. Just like the scent, Nineveh had never experienced such behavior from her mother. It threw her off guard, making her skitter a few steps away so that she ought to be out of her mother's way. As she moved away from her mother, too much seemed to happen at once. Something monstrous and dark broke out of the curtains of grass, barreling towards her mother who had contorted and twisted about. All the while, her mother leaped, the grass parting and swirling around the scene like wild waves. For Nineveh, she felt as if she had fallen into slow motion. Without her consent, her body too twisted away, her tiny legs shooting out beneath her and taking her into the tangles of weeds and grass. Her dark form blended into the shadows as she hid away, and yet she could not stop her eyes from becoming fixated on the story unfolding in front of her.
From her position, she could see so very little. Just her mother's form blending into the dark beast's own; more strange smells ran rampant in the air, but it had been the unsettling atmosphere that had made Nineveh shrink back into herself. She could feel the fur along her neck and spine prickling to attention, her ears flattening back as her lips quivered over her teeth. It was an unusual thing... she had never felt it before. Her heart pounded and every inch of her body felt both tight and relaxed at once. It was almost like being sick and yet, she wanted to do nothing more than to run out there and do something. Instead, she remained concealed, her entire body shaking with a shrill growl, her own personal warning.
