Naomi was glad to escape the ridge for a while. Tensions were high with the secret her dear niece had been told and the dark girl didn't want to be around while Alethi's temper was hot and she was ready to strike out at anything or anyone. Trusting Grai to smooth the raging storm, Naomi left the next morning after her sister Soda and new niece Scarlett rejoined the tiny herd. Naomi wanted to have that some day; her own family.
Naomi's journey to the crossing again had been quick and easy and she wasn't tired as she pulled her body from the clinging clutches of the cool water and onto the pale sand of the beach. The ocean breeze tickled her nose and lifted her dark locks. This was nice. She stands there for a few minutes before continuing on along a well worn path that led to the falls. Soon the trees parted, leading her into the clearing that surrounded the large pool of water and the falls itself that crashed down into it. Something about it all made her smile, eyes watching the water fall, but as her eyes lowered they fell upon a pale shape standing along on the bank.
As curious as ever she moves close to this horse, watching the petals that danced off his coat and fluttered to the ground in a hypnotizing dance. Spring was beautiful, she thinks to herself, as she comes alongside the stallion. Tipping her head up she watches as more petals start to fall when a gentle wind disturbs them.
"Amazing," she breathes out before lowering her face and tilting it to the side to look at her companion, "hope you don't mind the company." She offers him a sweet smile. |
