The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

this is a portrait of a tortured you and i
Silence. At one time he welcomed it, enjoyed it. Yet now after so many of his days had consisted around a mother and her four children, the silence is a stark reminder of what is missing. For seldom had he gone without some form of sound from the den, whether he rested just outside the entrance or slightly within it, it still gave his senses plenty to become occupied with. Now, well now all that is before him is earth and rock. Stale scents of those that have come and gone. He cannot help the attachment that seems to tether him to the peaks of Spirane and the desire to return to them is there, snapping at his paws as his mind conjures all types of fears that could occur in his absence. Even though he knows full well that she and the children are cared for, it still does not alleviate it. He had told himself he could very well go a few hours apart from them, or so he thought. It does not help that as of late his feelings for the silver queen had been shifting, unknowingly to him; which he has no idea how to accept or reject these new found feelings. If it was not for the fact he had not heard from Fjall since they had first met he would have gladly stayed by his friend's side while he happily was nommed on by little fluffy piranhas and continue on ignoring the way his heart beat seemed to stutter the closer his queen was to him, yep that was something new too. Something he would explore later on, for now he had a little warrior to hunt down. Hoping she was near for he doubted Asteraia would welcome him back yet.

Orange eyes shift along the shadows that seem to dodge and hiss at the rays of light that filter through the cracks in the dome, a few scattered leaves rustling in the wind as they stir upon the rock floor hiding the sounds of his own nails scraping along it. Carefully searching the corners where he had first found her, with no luck. Nostrils flare as he collects the air to settle in his lungs, picking out the differences in hopes her's is here but even then he finds nothing. For a moment his shoulders seem to sag, as a rush of air is expelled - causing a few leaves to flutter from the effect. Slowly does he head back to the opening, the sun shining down as a low warmth seems to wrap itself around him after the short time within the colder caves. It is then an itch takes resident within his throat and the need to release the storming call within his gut is too much. As his head tilts up the melody of his howl stains the sky as it calls to her, friend to friend. He hopes she is close, he cannot help the excitement at seeing her again. So much had changed and he wanted to make sure she was well and happy. And perhaps maybe she could help him understand just what it was he was feeling with the mountain queen. As his song trails off, ears perk up and orange eyes greedily seek as he waits. And the silence returns.
