Susil Crags

Disaster has struck!
The Crags are a series of rocky formations with small caves and crevices throughout. Many of the lower-lying areas of the Crags have been flooded, however, with water pouring in from the Northern stretches of Moladion. Some paths have been completely submerged, and some are nothing more than a few rocky peaks sticking out of the water. The water is fairly slow moving but begins to pick speed up towards the Grotto, becoming a series of intense rapids and waterfalls as it nears the Grotto's entrance.

The area itself is still traversible. However, it can be risky. Large amounts of debris can enter the waterway, creating bridges at times but also creating dams that break and cause ocassional flash-flooding. Be careful, travelers! One wrong step and you could end up finding out where the water goes.

What strange times had come upon Ankh during her short lifespan. She had watched as a bear ravaged the bodies of her two uncles, Ifrit and Neirin, and then she had watched as her father, Fenrir, had set to burying the two of his brotherhood. She had seen the way he carved the skin off the bear and the dull look in his pale green eyes from what she now understood to be grief, the same look that had soon come over the pale blue eyes of her mother. Some boy named Sven had died - apparently this boy had been her brother. Yet she knew her brothers and he was not one of them. Older, Natu had said, and that was about as much as she spoke of it for the pain in her voice was enough to put a stopper to the questions that consumed her youthful mind. Ankh was persistent in all things but even she had her limits and the pain of her mother was one.

Now their home had been snatched from the paws of the great Rhae by some white female named Jaidah. It was clear to her that this left her parents distraught as they herded the children from their birthing dens and out into the wide world - some of which she had explored in an illicit manner.

It was both exciting and to be quite honest, scary. All the pups were shooting up, their bodies now heavy with the weight of oncoming winter, and Ankh strutted around her brothers as they lay listlessly about while her parents debating in calm tones where they would go. She always had energy. Now was no exception and with the fresh scent of fallen leaves and the rustle of unknown creatures in the underbrush she felt a sense of adventure creeping up her darker hide to make the fur along her spine stand up. With a sly glance at her distracted parents Ankh shoots off into the world, bounding away on silent paws with her bottom two canines poking up out of her lips in her concentration. It was a disfigurement from birth and one she tried to hide but when she became focused she forgot to regulate her jaw and out they came once more.

The crags were familiar to her after one of her escapades when she had followed the old prince of Asteraia; she was no sycophant, no, she wanted others to flatter her. Still, she had felt brave and strong. She bounds across the large rocks and her nails skitter across the hard surface. So focused is she that she does not notice a large hawk circling overhead, eying her with a single minded purpose. Ankh was not yet very big, she wouldn't be one until spring, and she tended towards her mother's lean stature and small figure made for running. The perfect sort of prey if one wanted a large meal.

It swoops down without a cry and all she can feel is talons ripping into her back and tossing her with a yelp of fear and pain into another rock, bruising her tender ribcage. Up the bird swoops and flips and comes back down with intent to attack her face with those vicious claws...
