CHARITABLE ADVERTISING on Web Site There are many worthwhile charitable causes in existence, but we can only accept sponsorship or fundraising efforts on Fusilier Association websites, that specifically support approved Fusilier charities. This essentially means that it is acceptable to use these pages to seek sponsorship for The Fusiliers Aid Society (which includes Fallen Fusiliers), and The Fusilier Memorial fund only. We now have our own dedicated justgiving site (http://www.justgiving.com/fusiliersaidsociety), which you can use to help raise money for your cause. If you let RHQ (Asst Regt Sec) know the specific cause you are raising money for, it will be directed to the correct fund. Messages soliciting sponsorship for causes or charities other than the Fusilier ones mentioned above should not be placed on the message board and may be removed by the Webmaster.

Memorial to Lee Rigby in Middleton
IP: 86.190.99.57

On Sunday 29th March, a lasting tribute to Fusilier Lee Rigby will be created in Middleton’s garden of remembrance.

Rochdale council have confirmed they are planning to erect a ‘bronze memorial’ in the town’s remembrance gardens on Manchester Old Road.

Council bosses refused to be drawn on what the memorial would look like, but said they planned to unveil it before the end of the year.

( It is in fact a bronze Drum.....Joe)

A town hall spokesperson added a plaque and memorial stone would also be installed at the town’s cenotaph at the same time.

And they said that the council had also got in touch with the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire about installing a memorial to the Fusilier, who was murdered in Woolwich 12 months ago.

Linda Fisher, the council’s interim chief executive, said the memorial plans had been backed by Lee’s family, of Burnside Crescent, Langley.

She said: “There will be a bronze memorial created in the garden of remembrance, alongside a plaque for Lee and a memorial stone where other soldiers can be commemorated.

“These will be completed later in the year"

The ceremony itself has had to be limited to family and invited guests due to the considerable demand for tickets.

The Memorial will be open to the public however from 1430 hrs onwards.

The gardens are on the Manchester Old Road, the A576, Sat Nav M24 4DQ.

Joe.
