March 25, 2015,
At the Pension Board meeting today I spoke on the 2 minute Public comment session at the beginning of the meeting. I inquired as to the status of the expenses incurred by our fund in the Parker Law suit ( $800,000.00 plus ). Was the Insurance Co. , Travelers, going to reimburse our fund for those expenses?
Chairman Bogush stated that the bills had been sent to them and there had been no response as of today from Travelers Insurance Co. Pension Attorney Klausner said he was not aware of any response as yet.
Trustee Fox, Chair of Committee #3 gave recommendations for consolidating and rewriting Pension Plan policies. This was passed by the Board ( I recommended this about 3 years ago as had other retirees prior to me )This committee has done an excellent job on pruning out the many unneeded policies.
The Board discussed sending out an information News Letter that was proposed by Trustee Griner. They will have further discussion on this at the next Board meeting.
Attorney Klausner and the Pension Board Staff are trying real hard to locate Estate Beneficiaries so they can be paid their money held till the Parker Law suit was settled.
There will be a hearing in April on the Fees to be paid to the fund on Attorney fees accrued in the Pena Law Suit .
Plan Attorney Klausner reported that the Pension Fund had been released by the Judge from being a party in the Artz Law Suit. Trustee Gray asked him if the Fund could recover fees in this case and Attorney Klausner stated that Attorney Gonyea had already filed for recovery of these fees from the Plantiffs.
Attorney Klausner reported there was no decision on the Ribaya Law Suit , from the 2nd DCA as of yet. He reported that there would be no fees refunded in this case unless the Court ruled it to be frivolous.
The Plan Administrator reported that there was about 30 or 40 Retirees who have not brought their information up to date as to whether they are still alive. THESE RETIREES WILL SOON HAVE THEIR PENSIONS HELD IN THE PENSION OFFICE UNTIL THEY CONTACT THE PENSION OFFICE AND BRING THIS INFORMATION UP TO DATE !!!
Investigative TV Reporter Mike Deason interviewed just retired Fire Fighter H. Gray as she left the Pension Office.
The meetings are being run very smooth and the Office Staff is doing a great job.in all the work they have at this time of year.

Tampa Fire Rescue ( Ret. ) District Chief Fred Urbuteit
