i think it is great you are bring an 8 year old son fishing to our lake...my two sons and I have caught over 100 10" or bigger crappies in the last 6 days here at grand lake... some of the best places to fish are: andersons and the sailboat club on the north side,harmons landing,windy point,bass landing all on south side... we have used rubber tails seems like any color works but depth is the key to finding them.
