The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

Reich
If love is what you need
A soldier I will be
After the death of their father, the pups had been reluctant to let Reich into their lives. It had been a slow process for them to come to terms with his sudden presence in their lives. He would never be their father, and he knew that, but he could become a father like figure for them, help take over where Ifrit had never even started to begin with. Reich wanted to help them heal from their loss, help them grow up to be wolves their mother would be proud of. Because even if their were not his by blood, their were Everlyse's, and that made them as good as his. He loved them like he loved their mother, and it filled him with immense amounts of happiness when they had finally accepted him and allowed him to slowly forge a bond with them.

He had been sleeping soundly next to his angel Everlyse when he felt her stir. He was an incredibly light sleeper, a side effect of living alone for so long in such silence; the smallest noise of movement would wake him enough for him to assess if whatever made it was a threat or not before he went back to sleep rising completely. Normally, whenever his Everlyse or one of the pups stirred and caused him to wake, he went right back to sleep, without even a hint that he had been awake, but Everlyse's voice keeps him awake as he pretends continue sleeping, listening in like a sneaky spy.

"You want to help mommy?" she whispers to the sound of a swiftly wagging tail, and he does not have to open his eyes to know that she is talking to Semele. Sweet, sweet little Semele whom had taken to Reich the slowest after the death of her father. It is silent for a moment, but Reich does not dare peek open his bright eyes in case orange eyes lay on his relaxed form, exposing his mischief. "Mommy wants to play a game with Reich.."

His ears prick forward ever so slightly in interest. He was certainly curious not as to just what she was up to. He didn't move, knowing her eyes were focused right on him in her small pause. Only when she continued did he dare peek open a blue and green eye to spy his beautiful imprint. "Mommy's going to go hide, will you wake up Reich? Tell him to come find mommy?" she says before being attacked in love by Semele. It caused a small smile to cross his face as he heard his love laugh and playfully bat and nip at her daughter. God did he love her so much....

There is an excited yes from Semele and he immediately shuts his eye to continue his little ruse and give the little girl the excitement and satisfaction of being apart of her mother's plans. He feels his Everlyse rise, laughing about something he was unsure of because his eyes were closed, and then she is gone. There is an immediate feeling of absence in the den without her there, but it does not last long as he immediately hears Semele's sweet little voice asking him to wake up, feeling her gentle nudges with small paws.

His eyes blink open in a sleepy fashion, like he hadn't been awake all along. He yawns and then offers her a sleepy smile, head tilting curiously even though he already knows what she's going to tell him. 'Where's your mom?' he mouths slowly to her. It had taken them a little while, but eventually the pups had picked up Reich's way of speech and were able to read his lips. Reich had been patient with them in the beginning, repeating things again and again until they finally got it. Now though, they had become little masters at reading his lips.

His shoulder shook lightly in laughter as little Semele told him he had to go find her because she wanted to play a game. He nodded and rose to his paws, getting the same push treatment that Everlyse had gotten, his pace out the den quickening like her shove had made him do so. He turned to her as she stood at the opening of the den watching him with a big excited smile. 'Can I trust you to look after your brothers and sister?' he mouthed slowly, watching in amusement as her head bobbed up and down almost furiously. He smiled, gently bringing his head down to touch his nose to her shoulder affectionately. He didn't care if they weren't his, he loved them just the same...

He is quick in trailing the scent of Everlyse, running just as she had in hopes of catching up to her. Many questions race through his mind, but one of them is not where she is headed; he knows immediately by her direction where she is going. Yet this only opened up more questions of why she was going back to the place they had first met, the place where fate bound their souls and she would from then on become his angel Everlyse. Despite all his guessing, he would not guess her true intentions for the morning, leaving him to be completely surprised like he had when they first met and he imprinted upon her.

He follows in shortly behind her, but by now she is already upon the ledge that he had laid upon that day, looking down upon him. He smiles up at her, tail wagging back and forth. His eyes were so soft and admiring as he stared up at her, the love for her evident. He still wasn't sure what she had planned, but for some reason the moment just seemed incomplete, and he knew why: they needed to be in their cave, the one that only they knew about and no one else.

He throws his head forward into the darkness and winks, a silent way of saying follow me now. He knows she knows the way and so he hurries on ahead, following the same treacherous path they had when they first met until he found the opening and slid into the small cave. It was just the same as the day they first met: the small pool of water they had played in, the small opening that allowed light to seep in and illuminate the walls, the smooth stone and stalagmites. He smiled, hopping onto the rock in the middle of the pool that he had sat on once before and turning to meet her gaze and she followed in after him.

His tail swung back and forth and he offered her a goofy smile as if to say, 'surprise!' But then his mind slowly focused back in on why they were here in the first place and he tilted his head curiously, hopping off his rock and close to her. 'What's up?' he mouthed, the curiosity that was eating him away inside clearly evident.
