Falls

The simple touch made me weak in the knees, and I found myself pressing my nose into the muscles of his neck, a sigh slipping soundlessly from my lips, and I felt as if the weight of the world was finally off of my shoulders, like I could finally breathe without worry. My eyes slipped shut as I leaned my head against him. It felt so good to be with him again, it was hard to explain how the world felt as if it was finally lining up the way it was supposed to. I pulled back as he looked down at our boy, my heart racing in my chest. I had heard him make a sound, so I knew I hadn’t ruined him with my genetics, now all I could hope for was that he would take after Braylen and be a strong, amazing stallion as he grew up.

I stepped closer, leaning my head against his shoulder as he looked at our boy, and when he lipped at my mane I couldn’t help but smile. He spoke, and I closed my eyes, pressing the top of my nose against the underside of his cheek, a smile on my face. It felt so good to hear his voice, and to hear him speak of how he was proud. I had always been afraid that I would screw the baby up, and that I would fail him in one way or another, and to know now that it was all okay, it made me feel as if the time we had spent away from each other didn’t matter anymore.

He spoke again, and I nodded, brushing my lips against his cheek before I pulled away, looking down at our boy, I walked around until I had a spot beside him, laying down beside him, draping my head over his hips, nuzzling at him before I looked up, wondering if Braylen would stand watch or lay with us, either way, I was just glad that I was back with him now.
