The forest stands tall and lush here; ancient trees reach weather-twisted arms to the sky, fighting monster-like storm clouds back with their interlacing fingers. Shadow seems to lurk everywhere you look, but it spills calmly, coolly, inspiring a sense of stealthy calm or protection rather than unease. That is, if you've forgotten what kind of creature might be stalking just out of sight...Abendrot is a land cradled by the dark woods on all sides; in the center, some of the larger trees stay behind to reveal a small plateau - a citadel where this pack can gather and defend itself from invaders. There are, of course, softer sides to the land. Clearings here and there allow the sun to throw down its rays in incongruously resplendent gold showers. Ignore the lingering scents of blood spattered here and there along the borders: those do not concern you. The river on one edge of the territory is playful enough when it hasn't been gorged by violent rain. You can choose to note the ragged claw marks raked down tree trunks and the forest floor as friendly "Home Sweet Home" signs, if you wish.

All who treasure loyalty, order, victory, and the occasional indulgence of raw visceral pleasure are welcome, once they've been approved by the ever-watchful eyes of Abendrot's Alpha. But keep one thing in mind: no matter what your motive, this is not a fool's Paradise. This is the land of soldiers, assassins, and spies. This is ABENDROT.

Make up your mind quickly and prepare to prove your worth. You wouldn't want to add to those blood spatters, would you...?

All That I See, Absolute Horror

The multi-hued femme was still not positive if she was doing the right thing or not. She knew she needed to do what was best for her children, but was going to a pack best for her kin? She had so many harsh and negative memories associated with the pack she had been born into that she feared every pack would turn out to be like that one. One filled with violence and hate and cruelty towards its own. Don’t get her wrong, she was not one that wanted a nice and happy-go-lucky pack filled with easy going and kind natured lupines, that was not who she was and she knew it was not what her pups had grown to be. She was a fighter and a warrior, and she had trained both of her own to be the same way. The small family had been on the run, and the harsh elements and constant traveled had helped to shape her young, to show them to be strong and ready for whatever life may throw at them. Especially when her sadistic and crazed brother and father had found them and threatened to kill her and take her pups away. They had still been pups at the time, unable to defend themselves in anyway and she knew that if her family had been successful they would have taken her daughter and son back to the pack that they were supposed to be born in.

The pack that her and her two brothers had grown up in was unlike any other. Forcing young pups to maim and kill each other, to create blood thirsty beings from the time they were born. A females first born litter was taken away and slaughtered in front of her, the fate that had been lined up for her Corde and Felan, a fate that she would never allow to happen to them. Though the female did not show outward affection to her young, she did love them and care for them deeply. They were in fact the reason that she was given a pack life a chance, because she wanted them to have a better life than she had had. She wanted them to be safe and healthy and trained to be able to take care of themselves and their future families. Not that she was not capable of doing all this on her own, but she knew it would be easier with the aid of others. And so, with some hesitation, here she was at the borders of a pack with fearless Felan and her less sure of life daughter, Corde. She knew that her kin were different, she could see that Corde was often afraid and unsure of what to do, whereas Felan was fearless, thinking he could take on the world. She could only hope that Corde, as she aged, would become less fearful of the world and would learn how to enjoy things in life. And she knew that something would show Felan that he was not as invincible in life as he thought he was, and she would be there to make sure that whatever it was that taught him that lesson did not kill him in the process. She feared for both her children, but in different ways.

When the trio stopped at the border it did not take long for a brute to approach, clearly a member of this pack, asking them their names and business. The tri-colored femme knew that Corde would remain silent unless forced to speak, but she was more worried about Felan speaking out of turn. They had not had much experience with other lupines and he had not yet learned, despite what she told him, how to properly behave around others and in a pack. As she spoke her light green orbs watched Felan, telling him to remain silent and be respectful, but the young brute so often ignored her warnings that she did not know how he would react. As she was addressing the pack wolf another lupine came charging through the trees, banner held high, rage clear on his features and Azula’s position immediately changed. Her instincts told her to attack, to kill this being that was threatening her family, but she pushed that aside, knowing that was not how things were going to work anymore. She stepped forward, pushing Felan behind her again, knowing that Corde would not attempt to step in front of her. Her hackles rose and her fur bristled, but she forced the snarl to not show on her features, trying to remain calm as this one eyed titan reached them.

A growl was released from the white titan growled as he approached, authority clearly shown in his posture and stance, and Azula had to force herself to reciprocate the gesture. She wondered again if this was the right place for her to be bringing her family, if the alpha was this aggressive to newcomers how was he to his packmates? But the other lupine there did not seem to fear him, respect was clearly given to the large brute, but no fear was there, and she supposed that was a good sign. Maybe he acted this way to keep the frightened and weak lupines from his pack, maybe it meant he had a strong and capable pack. She hoped that’s what it was and that she was not putting her kin into danger. When he finally spoke there were no formalities or name exchanging, just a single barked command to get on the ground. The dragoness knew that this was how pack wolves submitted to each other, to the alpha, but making herself, and her young, so vulnerable still made her uneasy. But Azula knew it was necessary in order for her and her family to get accepted here and have a home.

With only a slight hesitation, the female looked at Corde and Felan, telling them with her eyes to copy her. She had told them on their walk over here some of the customary traditions of packs and what was to be expected of her, she only hoped that the siblings would remember her words and what they were supposed to do. She went to the ground, turning onto her back, exposing her vulnerable throat and belly as her tail tucked between her legs in the traditional submissive position. The female did not speak, just waited, glancing to the side to see if Corde and Felan were indeed following her lead, and waited to see what this alpha would do next.
