Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

He seems curious and I can smell other packs on his fur. I wonder if he's already been to all the others or just a select few. How many is he considering? Has he wrote any off completely yet? I know father won't be disappointed in me if the wolf ends up going elsewhere but I do want to make a good case for Taviora because it is my home and there's nowhere else I'd rather be, for now at least. Perhaps when I get in deeper to my career I may have to say goodbye for their own safety but for now this is where my parents are and my call to fame as a scout, a helper for the pack. I fear my mother's time is soon and my father will need the support. I can be the son he would want me to be at least for now.

He smells recently of Iromar and I wonder vaguely how the swamp pack is doing with their new alpha. I hear she's nothing like Andras and the alphas before her, that she doesn't play into the whole demons and angels thing, that she actually has morals. Father just came back from the pack not too long ago after leaving Sen there to heal one of their wolves. I hear they were very welcoming. I wonder what he thought of Diveen if he went there. Did he see Calliel? I need to go by there and see if she's still there. I bet she's so involved with her training to be an assassin that she just hasn't left Diveen. I do miss her though.

He wants to know which pack would suit him. That's an interesting idea, letting packs explain themselves and deciding which one you could fit into the best. He wants a rank and will pull his weight which is always a plus. He wants to know about the ranking system so I smile and nod to let him know I should be able to help him with that.

"Well there are certainly ranks available. Starting from the top, you have the alpha of course and below him, the peacekeeper who is like his right hand and adviser, his most trusted to handle things of alliances and such. A wolf by the name of Solaris holds that rank. He's been with Taviora from the beginning and is very loyal and active. A fair judge of character, he's great at his job. Next to that, you have the War shield. They are the protector of the pack behind the alpha of course. Reian holds that rank. I don't know much about her unfortunately. Next is shaman who is the head healer of the pack. Moth holds that rank. She's very kind and gentle and is a master when it comes to knowledge of herbs. The Tranquil is kind of an all around mentor and trainer. They can recruit members into the pack and serve as someone to go to if someone wants to train up or learn a new skill. Shiloh is our Tranquil. War Hawk is next. Call them the shield's apprentice. They help train warriors for the pack until they can fill the shoes of the shield. That spot is empty for now. Still wing is the scout. They gather information from all over and are quick and quiet on their feet. You're talking to the still wing of Taviora."

I add with a small smirk before I continue, hoping I'm not boring him.

"The true arrow is the hunter, they organize hunts and keep the pack fed. That spot is empty right now. The medicine wolf, Sen, is in charge of healing members of the pack and healing others for healing. The star gazer, Starfall, well, you may not believe in it and I can't say I fully do either. Basically they're said to have powers to see into the future, reading the stars and such. a little odd but Coza believes in it and Starfall has given some advice that turned out useful. I guess you could call it an odd twist on adviser to the pack. Far walker is a master of all trades. They can help train others to be anything, whether it be warrior, scout, hunter, healer, you name it. That rank is currently empty. The dreamcatcher, Aviias, is the pup sitter of the pack. An overall role model for the children to look up and come to for advice. They also know healing to help when birthing season comes. The rest is mostly those in training for the ranks above. Warriors, hunters, healers, and such.

As you see, Coza is all about the needs of the pack, not of himself. He cares about the main roles a pack needs for thriving. Food, safety, knowledge. If you fail in any, you fail your pack. Any questions?"

I tilt my head, yellow green eyes glowing brightly as I wait to see his opinion. I hope I haven't failed fathe in my explanation. I hope I covered everything he needed to know. I'd hate to have him leave with a bad impression of Taviora.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.
