All I can do is simply stand here silently. I know what it is like to lose someone. I have lost two of the most important wolves in my life, and yet, I hardly ever knew them. Andras knew his other half for such a long time and to have her die, within his own lands, is not only sad, but scandalous. Andras has changed so much. He does not seem as strong as he used to be. Perhaps with the dead of his son it helped further him along. I had not seen any of his children come to him especially in his time of need. How sad to think that his own flesh and blood have yet to spend some quality time with their ailing Father. It makes me disgusted. Disgusted that they had the privilege of having a parent to care for him and raise them. I am sure his parenting skills are much different from others, but the fact he was present in their lives, and they casted him aside, it was not fair. It was wrong, oh so very wrong, that I wanted to do nothing but storm up to his sons and daughters and berate them. I may be a pup and I may be nothing to them, but I think I had every right to put them in their place when it came to their despicable treatment of their only parent left in this world. Sharp violet eyes peer over at Avery as I hear her soft whimper and I cannot help, but remain silent – weakness was something I wasn’t allowed to show. Andras’ question causes me to slowly bring my eyes to see into those lackluster golden orbs that have his fiery spirit snuffed out. I know what I am about to say may be…wrong, but it is honest and I am an honest wolf. Softly I speak out with a bit of a firm and sympathetic tone, straightforward.

“You have to die. That is how to get to her.”

I didn’t say it was an answer that everyone would approve. But like I said, it is an honest answer, and perhaps one he was not looking for. I lower my ebony skull for a moment ashamed that I had even suggested a thing. It hurts to know that he is in this much pain, but I don’t want him to feel it anymore. If death frees him then so be it. I cannot bring myself to look at him or Avery so I allow my sadden eyes to focus more so on the dead animal I had brought him. Perhaps he will choose to kill me or even Avery for making such a suggestion. I can feel my eyes start to get heavier from my sickness and I lean into his side, to give him whatever strength I have left to keep him going. I have gotten much skinner from this disease, with my inability to eat much my ribs have slowly began to protrude out. I can feel my bony frame dig into his side, which reminds me this must be uncomfortable for him, so I left myself off his side. My ear twitches when I hear Avery speak and I cannot help but nod my head in agreement.

“We will remember you always. Like Avery said, you will be close to us…we will hear your growls and snarls and on occasion your booming voice if we do something stupid.”

Well, I tried for humor. I think I suck at it though. Sheepishly I look up at Avery before I stare at Andras again, my voice holding a reassuring tone.

“Everything will be okay…we both will be…”
