Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Aithne
wide awake in bed words in my brain, "secretly you love this, do you even wanna go free?"

It is a thing to see the way Siren's eyes blazed with fury and a bit of the insanity that lurked in the eyes of Andras as he gazed into the world and yet did not see it. Whatever had caused this sudden and complete snap of Siren's gentle being had to have been catastrophic and Aithne feels a surge of fury at whoever had done it. She remembers, vividly, the way his body felt crawling atop of hers and the way his teeth split her skin as he held her down and took from her something she was never ready to give. The helplessness of it all. Had a male done the same to Siren? Taken from her the very innocence that only a female knows as well as the innocence of her spirit? The idea is an abomination in her mind and her heart kick starts; her body desperately wants to rise so that her belly no longer lays across the earth. She wants to jolt up and rip into another wolf and exact vengeance for Siren, but she needs to know who. Who deserved such a punishment from her.

Still, despite the way her heart beats in tandem with fury, her mouth whimpers her sorrow that Siren would declare her an enemy. She lays below them now, her posture as one who is submissive and non-threatening, and it scares her a little. Aithne, who is strong, Aithne, who is never weak. Now she lays in such a prone position with others above her all for the sake of Siren. Reian moves slowly around Siren and it is relieving to know that she keeps such a stout watch on their surroundings. Aithne's ears press forward as her eyes remain poised on those of Siren's yet her focus is attuned to Reian. And so unfolds the story of Siren.

Aithne's face grows slack in surprise as she sees it now. That startling similarity in the gaze of Siren that she has seen in Andras. The way his soul has feld and the way she screams inside, broken. Lost. Fearful. Infuriated. Lillith had been the one to break both her mate and her child. Would she approve if she were to look at the poison her existence had wrought? And this boy, Roamin, she remembers Siren mentioning him. She blinks a few times as she processes this, realizing that Reian mentions him as a brother and that she also has a part in this story. Her father was the Medicine Wolf... and that meant that her father was Sen. She jolts at this, her body visibly jerking as she wonders if leaving Sen in Iromar alone was a mistake. Everything begins to fall into palce and splinter apart and another whine escapes her muzzle.

"I did not know... Siren, I did not know," she whispers. "I would have protected you and him. I... I would have tried."

A white and red wolf moves swiftly from the forest and heads directly to Siren's side, his own touch to Siren revealing of intentions or emotions, perhaps, and her eyes snap to him curiously. Solaris's intentions are pure in his own mind and yet Aithne eyes him with suspicion and uncertainty, wondering if he was taking advantage of her brokenness. It is not a fault of Solaris but a fault of Aithne that makes her think such, her own history tainting her view a bit yet she nods slowly when he speaks to her. Solaris was a diplomat and he was also of Diveen bloodline, that much was certain. That relaxed her, in a way, for Siren was of demon bloodline and if he cared for her then Siren would be taken care of.

It is displeasing to hear from his lips that Siren was distraught by her presence, despite it being obvious and she glances at Siren in a sort of beckoning way. She would never hurt the female. Solaris speaks to Siren, offering her refuge and letting her decline Aithne's attempts if she wishes. Siren turns into Solaris as a flower to the sun, her nose pushing into his fur with the ease of time and Aithne watches it all curiously despite remaining in her prone position. She would not tempt Siren's wrath by moving.

Slowly the girl moves towards her and Aithne stills, even going so far as to hold her breath, her eyes slipping past Siren to the two watching with ardent expressions. Would Siren attack her? Go straight for the throat? Instead a small paw lands on her shoulder and she has to try hard not to jolt beneath the touch, unnerved, and then a nose follows. It is.. strange. The way that Siren sniffs her and the awkwardness that Aithne feels in this situation. She does not like such physical closeness - a brush of the shoulder was good enough - and this goes beyond such measures. She blinks and focuses on not shifting her body away like some worm and secretly she kind of likes it.

Siren's sniffs turn to licks and Aithne feels, for a moment, like a pup beneath a mothers cleaning and there is a startled expression on her face. Still she does not move and Siren speaks, her words strange after remembering the vibrant whine of her voice before. It would not do to answer her either when she seeks the words from the lips of Reian or Solaris so she waits obediently beneath the paws of the little Iromar Princess, her own gaze jumping between the two.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
