The air is heavy as you make your way through unknown territory, as you pause to sniff the air a drop of rain falls onto your nose. It is soon followed by another and another and soon the rain is pelting down in sheets, soaking you to the bone. The clouds are an angry purple and the menacing drumming of thunder rolls over the sky. Squinting your eyes against the blinding water you find yourself at the edge of a large, dark pine forest. You are too desperate for shelter to notice the scents that mark the border and plunge in, and nearly into the chilly stream that runs through the territory. You veer away and as you are shaking the water out of your fur you notice a large pair of icy blue shards gazing at you. The storm has passed now and beams of sunlight filter through the thick canopy of pines, illuminating a massive male wolf not three feet away from where you stand.

His pelt looks like a bad patchwork job of black and white and beneath them you see large, hard bands of steely muscle and you know this is a warrior for his torso is marred with many battle scars. His banner curls over his back and his lips are drawn, exposing sharp ivory daggers. When he speaks his voice is deep and dominant, like the thunder you so recently heard.

"Wolf, you have found yourself in the terra of the Andere Seite Pack. I am Eclipse, king of this land."

It is only then that you notice another pair of lanterns gleaming in the penumbra and a dark-pelted fae slinks out into the clearing to stand next to the king, her own banner waves and her green and blue eyes bore into you. She is the same size as most males and a crisscrossing pattern of scars show that she too can take care of herself. Her voice is cold and has a snake-like sound to it yet you can see they are both fair rulers.

"And I am Nephthys, queen of Andere. We don’t care much for strangers so you must make your choice, Submit to us now or flee our lands and never return. If you fail to do either you will have little time left to regret it."

The formidable pair pierces you with their gaze and you feel as if all your secrets spill out before them. You are left with a decision now. Will you submit and take refuge in this dark forest or will you flee and never know what secrets these trees hide? Make haste, you can see that the pair grow tired of waiting.

Kanaya
I'm meddling with murderers who still deserve to pay for their insanity,

The shadows had their own spawn. With that heir, jade orbs pierced the shadow of the trees. A slate colored face barely stood out of those shadows. An auburn pair of hips and rump blended nicely with the blackness. A smug, open smile existed on the femme's face. Her pearly fangs, narrower than average, making them only slightly sharper, stuck out in this open smile. All her canines stuck out in the darkness. The soft crunch of leaves could be heard as she padded towards the edge of Andere Seite.

Kanaya always had liked the idea of ruling a pack. Have people bow down to her, do her deeds, oh how it seemed wonderful. The mainly ebony ess wasn't that mean. She was also fair in her choices and decisions. In fact, she gave mainly a nuturing aura to wolves that she got along with. Kanaya did have another side, one that she could easily show with the flick of a tassel when need be. Otherwise, she was very mother-like, and with how she grew up, her mother always taught Kan how to be a good leader.

This mother was nothing special. In fact, she was a lone wolf. She had been in packs, but they eventually kicked her out from, ahem, instances. And this mother, who we'll refer to as Dolorosa for now on, agreed with why they would kick her out. Nobody wanted someone of her kind in the pack. That's all her mother had ever told her. Kanaya had been scared of packs as a child, but once Dolorosa had started to explain more to Kanaya, she did not fear much after that point.

In fact, Kanaya turned out to be the one more like her father. The one whom she never got to know. Porrim, her older sister, turned out more like their mother. Kanaya was the one who loved to kill. Kill whatever. Hell, even others of her kind, species. Doesn't that make you think? Who in their right mind would love to kill? It’s the thrill. The thrill of the chase. The thrill of the ride. The thrill of the kill. That adrenaline that fills you up to the brim, and you have to finish the deed to dump that adrenaline. After this deed, one would feel a never-ending guilt, especially if to a same species. Kanaya otherwise? She felt nothing. Kan had learned to become numb after that type of kill. An adult kill that is. She could never kill anything that was a baby, since that hit her in a soft spot.

As a child, Kan had a friend. This friend, whose title was Karkat, was usually very moody, but was the most lovable and kindest thing. He just had a hard time bonding with others. With her, he could talk about anything. Many people thought they were a thing. If anything, they were like siblings. He had been around ever since Kan was a baby, since Dolorosa’s friend, Signless, had died and she decided to adopt his pups, Karkat and Kankri. Kankri got along best with Porrim. But most all friendships break when one dies. Kanaya lives on for Karkat’s dream, and she’ll do what she needs.

Back to the present, she approached the pack lands of Andere Seite, hopefully the land in which would soon be hers, if victorious. But where was any scent of the almighty? It was so old of a scent that it barely existed, but she traced it. Being polite, she sat down on the edge and gazed with her emerald orbs over the slightly fogged land. Smiling, she sat on her auburn rump, and taking a breath. This is it… She thought. This’ll lead to battle. She took a deep breath this time, letting out a howl stating her challenge. Her cranium then lowered to its original position, and her pillars rose onto all four.

Pivoting back to the way she came, her tassel and fur waved nicely in the wind caused by momentum. Kanaya looked back at the path, straightened her posture, and started to pad back the way she came from to Quarrel’s Clearing. Hopefully she could get a meal on the way. But one thought ran through her mind.

For Karkat…

and though I'm one of them, I'm rarest of my kind, for many fell but only I arose.

"Look at all the many colors, so exquisitely embroidered," She soothed, cradling the pup in her warm bodice.

OOC - I'll get a post up at Quarrel's Clearing soon.
