Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

We laughed at fate and mourned her;

It has been quite some time since the last time she could recall someone desperately attempting to portray themselves as a threat. The charred she-wolf that laid within the muck, the mud and dingy shallow waters was nothing more than a dying ember that believed it still had the ability of becoming a flame. It was a pity that tonight she would be dining on destroyed flesh and yet it was better than nothing. Winter brought with it the shortage of food and Tick Tock could not be so very picky when her next meal was lying perfectly in front of her. Silently she inhaled, her ebony chest that carried some grey barely moving, as she tasted Death encircling around the fallen lupine. Like a psychic vampire she fed off the dying light force of her prey, enjoying the taste and feel of an animal that was dwindling down a dangerous spiral. With the silver moon high above them its silver rays radiated perfectly upon her shadowed hulking figure, the dark shadows continued to twist and turn around the scarred Monster. All along her form were years of past deadly skirmish, each scar seemed to radiate a pale silver, due to the moon’s light, causing her ebony coat to look like a decorated military uniform – each past scar like a honorable war medal. Apathetic azure pools barely blinked as the damaged wolf below desperately tried in vain to look so intimidating with those useless daggers barred at her. Mauled face would slowly move towards the one glowing-red eye as a casual small grin appeared to reveal her own bloodstained daggers that craved to tear in a new kill, that cold hoarse voice held such a subtle venomous foreshadow of what was to come.

“You bear your teeth as if that will keep me at bay…to a wolf that holds numerous scars of old fights, each mark the very last thing my victims made before they took their last breath.”

To some having such a marked pelt was a sign of their inability to get out of a fight without any flaws. Yet one could only do that for so long, and really, it was cowardice if you took the easy kill. Her outward appearance was hardly a concern for her. The way others had stared at her she had grown cold and ignored their stares. As she grew older there was a part of her that wondered just why she hadn’t settled down, but those desires had long ago been snuffed out by maturity and simmering indifference. Slowly her massive paws would move around the shallow water as she assessed just what location she would attack and feed off of, one grey-trimmed ear twitched back and forth as she listened to the lies that spilled from the pathetic girl. Mates was something she did not care for, partly because she never had the chance to have one, and partly because she believed the whole thing was unimportant. To find a life partner was ridiculous, even more so imprints. Always she felt nothing but emptiness and to think that a part of her soul was tied to another was an audacity – even if she felt something stir within her that reminded the cold-hearted beast she needed to numb this side of her again, and her imprint would have to meet the same fate as Chael. Calmly her unconcerned voice slipped from her muzzle tarnishing the white wolf’s attempt to make her envious and offended, as one eye rolled over to see the light slowly fading in that one ruby eye.

“He is not your mate. You barely carry his scent, especially during this winter month, and you are far too young whereas he is my age. Do you really want a lie to be your last words? As for him implanting his ‘seed’ in me, he hasn’t.”

It did not go unnoticed how the sorely injured she-wolf began to lie herself on her side, a sign that truly she had given up. This made things so much easier for the Monster, even if Fiammetta was trying to show her own indifference, and it struck a nerve in her. To see a creature simply ‘give up’ completely made her incapable of seeing anything now – to see weakness simply drove her mad. With her good side exposed from the water the ghoulish monstrosity moved ever so slowly around the wolf ignoring the girl’s speech. All she could hear was the deafening sound of an overexerted heart that seemed to beckon Tick Tock to make the sound stop, the noise was all she could focus on. Dark azure eyes narrowed and suddenly her body sprang into action like a deadly viper. Massive paws held down firmly on the she-wolfs neck, forcing Fiammetta’s muzzle to go in the water making her breathing difficult, and behind her shoulder, pressing down firmly as her exposed teeth snapped and held onto the location where her Trapezius muscle was – extensive damage not only causes muscle stiffness, chronic pain, but also the inability to laterally rotate the neck and shoulders – should Fiammetta survive moving the neck would be extremely difficult for the rest of her life. Back and forth her head would rock as she slowly climbed over the girl, her back paws raking her claws down the wounded wolf’s side, blood-soaked teeth letting go before aiming for the girl’s side, not minding at all that the girl was struggling to breathe due to one paw still remaining on her throat. Fiammetta made this far too easy for Tick Tock and she was glad for once to have an easy kill this winter’s night.
