PRIME MINISTER'S DECREE

"None." - Leader

The Offspring

Diccon (Cicada x Khar'pern)

Rules

• The Vulcan Peak is where homeless mares come to live as a sisterhood. Stallions may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Warriors keep mainly to fighting, Thinkers keep mainly to raiding, and Politicians may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Codebreaker or Prime Minister for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Prime Minister maintains order within the Peak and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Peak works on the Rules page.

try to forget the fireflies

In reponse to the tickling warmth on her back from the chestnut mare’s breath, little Jetta shivered and pranced in place with a delighted whinny. Her previously shy expression was now open and animated as she gazed up at Macabre with rapt attention, and her little black tail whisked to and fro across her skinny hindquarters. For a moment she simply stood and grinned at her new friend, as if lost for what to say; then, as though suddenly remembering they were not alone, the splash-white filly swiveled in place until she and Macabre faced the same direction. Her pale, whiskered chin dipped low over her chest, and after glancing at her mother her eyes roamed up, up, and up until they met the gaze of the massive Marlena, who smiled down at her with a kind expression that belied her intimidating size.

Jetta inhaled a sharp breath when she realized just what color the eyes she was looking into were. After a few heartbeats of hesitation, she crept forward a few paces and lifted her head up as if to get a better look at the pale mare. Then shyness overcame her, and she pivoted with the swiftness of a deer to rush back to Macabre’s side. In the chestnut mare’s ear she whispered loudly, “She has the same color eyes as me. D-Does that mean I’ll grow as big as her?”

Inka watched all this with amusement plain on her dark features, and chuckled softly at the naivety of her daughter’s logic. It filled her heart with joy to see Jetta already finding the confidence to make friends – even if her friend was a grown mare several times her own age – yet strangely, she felt the pang of jealousy in her gut too. With Jetta focused so entirely on the two other mares, Inka may as well have not existed. What if Jetta grew so attached to Macabre that she no longer wanted to spend time with her mother?

Knowing she was being irrational, however, the Friesian mare maintained her cheery composure as she said to her companions, “Do either of you have any children?”
