The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

Mockingbird had never been quite this level of a follower before, but that doesn't matter now. He could follow his Dove wherever she wanted to lead him without saying much of it. It was strange to feel content to just go where she wanted him to go, to accept it with the kind of blindness to it that he did. He wasn't unhappy over the matter, he felt rather glad for it, honestly. Something to live for, strive for. He had a purpose where before he had none; it had been a long time since he had felt any sense of purpose to life. Years. It had seemed so shallow after the purposes he'd once held were gone, sifting from him like sand through fingers. Parents gone, half sister gone, Judila gone.. one by one all those things had vanished from his life and made it empty.

At least until now. That void had been filled when he had found his imprint (even if crushed for a little while afterwards), and Mockingbird had needed that. He had been searching for a reason to matter, for a way to say he was still something. And he had been ready to do that, in whatever way it took to get there before he was connected to his Dove. Once that happened, however, all else just fell away and was no longer needed or wanted. Mostly he just wanted to be what his Dove needed him to be. This was a part of that, going with her, keeping her company as she wanted of him. She didn't want to be alone, and Mockingbird no longer wanted to be alone either. It worked out, somehow. It seemed surreal, though, that much was true.

At first it did not seem as if there was any good ending in it for him, with the fact that Dove had a mate still, that she said she wanted to be with that mate. Mockingbird had heard it all, and it was a little perplexing now, but he understood. He did not judge for it, said nothing of the matter except that he would go wherever Dove wanted him to go. She had her reasons for it all, and to him they were good reasons. Of course anything Dove said to him would probably be considered good, so there was that fact to think on. Through thick and thin, he was here for her. They could brave the storms together, if they were emotional or physical ones, and keep going. To Mockingbird, he had found a new strength in knowing Dove, for having someone to fight for in all ways.

They could go to sundry places or settle down, whatever Dove perferred to do. Mockingbird had done both things throughout his life and had no need to pick one over the other. He would be content just to be in whatever place that his Dove was, if she so wanted him there. Of course he had to keep his thoughts down if she was trying to go anywhere specific so she didn't get lost (or so he figures from what she'd been saying now), and when she speaks to him, he's quiet. The projected word -- like a feeling that was more solid, maybe -- had Mockingbird give pause, but he did not react to it further than that. He simply went along, trying to figure out what it was that Dove wished of him. His emotions were pulling him this way and that.

Again she speaks, and he looks at her and blinks. He could feel her insecurity in saying it, and he wanted to wipe that all away. "Yes, I do. After finding you, all of it was worth it." He replied softly, putting his emotion into it, because it was true for him. It all made more sense now, it made everything he had gone through matter, somehow. That was all he needed. She was all he needed now. He doesn't hesitate for a moment in entering the tunnel behind her, trying to sort through all the feelings and emotions going on between them in that newfound unspoken way they had. Soon enough they were in a cavern, and Mockingbird looked around curiously before looking back to Dove and listening. "That sounds good." He said with a little smile, nodding.
