Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

Isola had done as I’d asked, considering the possibility of my becoming advisor to her and Kane before. I knew that there were tasks to be completed, as with any rank, but I only wished to set forth on this path if Isola felt she could truly trust me and that I would be an asset in such a role. As it turned out, my advice pertaining to the rank of Dark Angel had been astute, and thereafter Isola had informed me of the tasks I would need to complete in order to further prove my capability for the role. Her instructions were to visit each of the packs considered allies to Diveen, to see how they fared and to bring back any news to her. If there were actions to be taken in regards to any of the news I brought home, then depending on how I advised my Queen and King would reflect upon whether I was the one most suitable for the position.

So I set out on a bright winter’s morning, the sun shining down from a cloudless sky as I jogged away from Diveen. I would not return for some time; depending on how long this mission took I might not see my home again until spring arrived. Glancing back over my shoulder, I was immeasurably glad that Goliath had reappeared within the pack lands before my departure. It was a relief to know my son was safe, and to learn of the year he had elected to spend within the cavernous ravines of the plateaus. As I turned my nose back to the north, I wondered if perhaps I would encounter Dessa on my travels, hopeful at the thought of seeing my only daughter grown. She had always been so independent, so it had come as no surprise when she struck out on her own at only two years of age. My other sons Berke, with his aspirations to follow in his grandmother’s healing paw prints, and Ash seemed lost to me. I did not know where they were, or why they’d gone. I missed them dearly, as any father would.

But today I would make the long trek north, to the borders of Taviora. I would make my way down the western side of Moladion, visiting each pack that held alliance or treaty with Diveen before returning home once more to report my discoveries to Isola and Kane. It had been two years since I had brought Berke to meet his grandmother, so that he might learn more about the healing art from the greatest master in Moladion’s history. Suddenly I felt guilt weigh heavy on my heart. Two years had come and gone, and only now was I returning to visit my mother. Once more it was at the behest of a task set forth to me to advance in rank. Could I not have taken the time out of any single day to visit her for that simple reason alone? What a terrible son I had become.

Subconsciously I lengthened my stride, wishing to cross the distance that much faster so that I might spend as much time in her company as I could to make up for my shortcomings. Still, it was no short trek, and the snow seemed to conspire against me. I skirted through the pass at the edge of Enocra Woodland along the rim of Mecor Valley at mid morning. It was nearly midday before I found myself along the edges of the forest pack. My ears pushed forward as the black of my paws toed the borders. I knew that our packs were close friends, and that I was welcome here. But it still seemed discourteous to just barge in without announcing myself. So I lifted my chocolate snout to the heavens and called out first to Coszcotl to tell him that I was here, and then to Moth. I was here to see her, and I asked for her location so that I might come to her. My voice faded and I listened carefully for her reply. My mother was not so young anymore, and I could at least be a considerate enough son to go to her rather than making her come to me.

Only when I heard her reply did I cross into the woodlands and begin to make my way through this foreign land. I did not know much of the landscape, having only been here once before, but I made my way steadily through the territory until I reached her. A smile brightened my features at the sight of her, and I immediately stepped forward to embrace her in greeting.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
