He never could have imagined how much that information could have upset his life. Having children dulled those thoughts most of the time. He watched them grow, so innocent and sweet neither of them anything like the monster that claimed to be his father. Perhaps that was why he watched them so, he was happy they were as they were. Care free interested in normal puppy things. He wasn’t sure what demon pups liked, but surely it had to do with like killing things and blood and stuff like that. Not flowers, grasshoppers, games they could make up or listening to stories … or poisonous flowers. He shifted guiltily. It had been one of his curiosities since he had learned healing from Brooke, the very first plant she showed him had the ability to paralyze if enough was eaten. But it was a healer’s curiosity, not something… darker. He stared at his daughter still looking dazed until he saw her pink eyes staring back looking just as confused as he felt. He blinked a few more times before smiling and that seemed to brighten her up too.

She was so sweet and seemed to take a lot after her mother, though she had his markings to be sure, personality wise she was so much like her Mom. His little daughter bounded forward bumping and rubbing his brown and white legs and he stuck his own muzzle down giving her a soft touch on the cheek before she went bounding back to her pool of water. He smiled following behind her, listening to her adorable exclamations that the sky was in the water. The reflection was pretty, showing some of the canyon, from his angle at least, before showing the perfect sky. His tail gave a few wags as she said she could change it tossing a rock in and causing the sky to ripple. He watched as further from the center they got it was more changed, still the same from the middle droplet just wider out somehow it made him feel sad. All from the same mold but he had to shake his head again remembering there was more than amoebic copies involved. Yin, her kindness, if Meryl really was the son of that brute would trump any bad he was sure of it.

”That is very cool!” He says smiling at her though at her expectant look he knew she wanted more. ”Maybe it’s a portal that takes you to another place, with a whole new sky and where there are more little girls like you staring into them.” He grinned at her tail waving lowering his voice like it was some secret. ”And there maybe magic exists where we can fly, or run as fast as a hawk dives. You never know.” He planted a lick upon her forehead. ”You would like to fly, wouldn’t you, Yuki?” He asks tail still waving about his dark brown and blue eyes glinting somewhat mischievously at her.

Before she had a chance to reply he slipped his head under her lifting her up ran around the clearing, ”Or a land where dragons are real and wolves are their masters.” He chuckles again giving a few leaps with his long legs hoping she was enjoying herself. Her laugh and smile were one of the few things in the world that made him feel like the dark would go away. Her, Ame and Yin’s happiness was everything.
