RaumThe darkness is all she knows, and she revels in it. It consumes her and the two siblings she shares this space with. From time to time she kicked out at them, wanting to be rid of them and keep this darkness all to herself. So imagine her surprise when one stray kick sent her brother away from her, and then his presence disappeared. The realization that he was gone was hazy, but she knew it was true. For some time she waited, expecting his petulant return. But he did not reappear.
When her other brother went, she tried not to care. She had what she always wanted - the darkness, all to herself. And for a long while it seemed that this was the way things would be, now and forever. Slowly she became accustomed to the idea, and allowed the pressing warmth of her catacomb to engulf her. It was only when she was drawn to the point where her brothers had disappeared that she realized she was destined to join them. For a moment the pup fought the inevitable, clinging to her blackened wonderland. But contractions had a way of forcing a child into the world.
Raum would never remember it, but in that moment she felt a great disdain for her brothers as they suckled happily at their mother's abdomen. One of them had initiated this transition, and they were to blame. It was cold here, and somehow she could feel that the true and all consuming darkness of the womb would never be hers to have again. Even so, when she is roughly groomed she does not release so much as a single squall. She begrudgingly accepted what had happened to her. She would not begrudge her brothers forever for leading her from the darkness, for when she was placed side by side with them she was reminded of their warmth. Once settled instincts took over and Raum suckled eagerly at the milk that would nourish her dark, dark life.
