News 08.08.2021
Change was long overdue in Spirane. Now that I have learned who is still an active presence within the pack, the ranks have been updated. As I once took time away from the pack, so too now shall Kalseru. Know that she is still second in command of the pack, as is reflected in her rank. Once you are familiar with the new ranking system, if you would like to change positions or move up in the ranks you need only ask. Let this be a time of new life in Spirane, and a promise of great things to come!

When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies, but the pack survives.

Spirit
Change for me or Change for everyone

Scared? She wasn't scared, no, she was absolutely terrified. Ever since she had found out she was pregnant, she has been worrying. All the what-ifs where almost constantly on her mind. What if she wasn't a good mother? What if Vincent decided to up and leave? What if something happened to Spirane? She felt most of her worries were probably irrational, in fact some bordered on just plain insanity. So, of course she didn't voice her fears, not to anyone. Not even Vincent. She didn't have any role models after her first year, and had never been around small pups before; inexperienced was an understatement. She had slept in this morning; in fact she has been sleeping a lot as her belly grew. When she had got up she had found the sun was past its highest point. She stepped out of the den, stretching her legs, and then set off at a brisk pace. She had found only one thing that could get her mind off the worries, and that was hunting. Of course she wasn't going after anything bigger than a small rodent; her instincts wouldn't allow her too. It didn't take her to find a rabbit, then again it never did. She lowers herself stalking towards her prey, her belly occasionally bumping against the ground. The rabbit had its back to her, and she was downwind of it; the only way it would sense her was if she made some sort of noise. Carefully stalking forward until she was close enough, then she lunged. The rabbit only had enough time to let out a squeak before its life was cut short. She walked away rabbit dangling from her jaws, looking for a place she could rest and eat. She found it on a rocky out crop, and she watched the sun set as she enjoyed her meal; feeling her pups kick and squirm within her.

Then something changed as the last threads of sunlight vanished from the sky, but she couldn't figure out quite what it was, and it was the unknowing that made her release an anxious whine from her throat. She wobbly got to her feet, releasing a howl for Vincent and a healer; however it was suddenly cut off from a jolt of pain. She turned unsteadily moving along the face of the mountain; she knew that she couldn't get to the den on time, but at same time couldn't do it out in the open either. She struggled to stay upright occasionally leaning against the rocky surface, she feels bile rise in the back of throat and then she loses her most recent meal. Until she found an opening, one that led to a small cavern, it would have to do seeing that her energy to remain upright was fading fast.

She lies down; curling around herself as contractions though wracked her body, and her sides heaving with heavy pants. Guided by instinct she pushed, she counted to three, and then pushed again. Bolts of pain shot up her spine with each push; still she gritted her teeth and continued. The scent of blood and another unknown hit her nose. She barely notices how much time has passed before she felt what she had been pushing from her body give; signaling the birth of her first son into the world. Genitally she grabbed the sac and put it between her front paws, then began to diligently clean the newborn until it began to squeak and yowl. Like Vincent he was black with entirely white undersides; with the addition of the entirety of his neck, paws, and spots on his ears, and a mark encircling his eyes. However a brown also came into play saddling over his back as well as the back of his ears and front of his shins, also tipping his tail and splotching over his muzzle. She picks the boy up and sets him down close to her belly using her maw to guide him the rest of the way.

The contractions had rarely stopped, never giving her enough of a break to regain her breath even a little. She continued pushing this pup seemed to come easier but only slightly, that is until felt more intense pain rip through her; at this she let out a sharp yelp followed by an almost pitiful whimper, as the smell of blood became more prominent in the air. With another push the next pup came out with a surprising amount of blood as well. She reaches behind her, to give the little girl the same treatment that her older brother got; until the girl started her own crying that is. As she finished cleaning her new daughter she found that the girl was mostly made of shadows, only the majority of her legs and tail tip was brown with cream paws, and with small bit of white on her chest. Once again genitally picking up the newborn and placing it at her belly.

She could feel herself getting weaker and weaker with each push, the pain was almost unbearable. However she wouldn't let the pain beat her, she continued pushing. By the time she had finally pushed the last whelp from her body the moon was high in the sky, bathing her and her children where they lay, in its light. As cleaned her youngest, she was awestruck at how much he looked like her mother mostly cream with white undersides (like his father) and tail tip, but there was also a pale brown weaving over his back. She puts him to her stomach when she deems his clean enough, and whining with healthy lungs.

Her eyelids where getting heavy, but there were still things to do. "Vince, come here, our children have been born." Her voice came out as the only thing she could summon, as a whisper. She hoped that he had heard her howl earlier and had been able to find her, as she hoped healer did as well, she was going to need one. "I leave the naming of our first born to you." she says when he comes in, licking their first born son's head. She waits to hear the name of the boy before continuing, “Viekas, meaning stealthy in one of the many languages I had learned from my nomadic days." She said licking her daughter's head. She thought long and hard on her youngest son's name, "Thranduil, after one of the many alphas I have met on my journeys, may he be as strong and as wise as his predecessor." She said licking the young male's head. She lifts her head from their pups, "So new father, what you think?" though she was curious, she said it with some humor in her voice. She didn't wait for an answer though, her draining energy wouldn't let her, laying her head on her paws closes her eyes, feeling her mind begin to drift.
