Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

It is the sounds of childish laughter and squeals of delight that so rouse that black and white boy from his sleep- dark shoulder flecked with red shifting as he wakes, red tainted muzzle and forehead lifted upward before those mismatched eyes of yellow and blue all flecked with silver are given to flicker open. For a moment the world is blurred in the haze of sleep, yet he is unconcerned, head shaken slightly to clear his vision as he detangles himself from his sleeping sister, Astraea and ambles towards the mouth of the family den atop white paws. He is the smallest of his family by far, black and red head peaking from within the mouth of the den, assuring all was well before he allowed himself to proceed, loping out and towards the sounds of his siblings. Mismatched gaze fell upon his brother as Vortigern leap atop the patches of light Asariel had been collecting, a habit his sister seemed to hold though Tzadkiel offered no words on such a thing as he wandered closer in his silent observation.

He is, as ever, wholly unobtrusive, entering quietly to wander towards an old tree stump still bathed in the shadows of the retreating night, paws lifted upward to just grasp the edge as he leapt- terribly small form struggling in this moment and yet he makes no cry for help, offers no grunt or groan, merely continues his silent struggle with a determination renewed as hind legs scrabble and claws scrape, forelegs hauling upwards until he pulls himself atop the stump and seats himself at last. If there is pride in his victory it remains unseen, no more then the softest of smiles given to pass his lips and a single wave of that grey and black tail offered before it curls quickly about his long limbs, oversized upon his small body perhaps though he hardly seems to notice. For surely he is small and yet- he is perfectly formed, lacking only the height of his blood and no else. He is pleased in his achievement, for this is the first day he has made it atop the stump without tumbling to the earth. Mother and Father have offered their assistance on many an occasion and yet each attempt to intervene in his goal is simply met with a gentle smile and the sweet softness of his boyish voice that assures them each time ‘No- I will do it Mother. No Father, I do not need your help, not today. Today is not my day.’ Each word is spoken softly, kindly and little else, head nodded until it is they leave him to stare upward and towards this tree stump alone in wonderment of what he might one day achieve. Today it would seem- is his day.

Yet such is the nature of the boy he draws no attention to himself, merely basks in this glow of success on a more personal level- for surely his achievements do not mean as such to his siblings, nor does he mean them too. He is selfless in his existence, quiet and yet it would be wrong most assuredly to believe the boy nervous or unsure- for he is neither. His confidence is merely introverted, for he is unboastful, he knows of that which he is and that which he will be and as such sees no need to barrage others with his words. For Tzadkiel is the quiet one perhaps, given more to thought then action and yet he is seemingly content in this- as he is now, lowering himself to recline atop his little seat until he lays right upon his back, head hanging over the edge and upside down as he views his siblings before him from this new angle- white underside clear as he does. Watching with ever gentle features upturned in a grin, his voice so softly spoken within the confines of the forest clearing.

“I would like to know their names too.”

He does not truly believe they are beings, nor that light can possess a name for he is….less imaginative then his siblings perhaps- he simply does not take such stories to heart nor allow his mind to wander into the realms of what is imagined and yet- he sees no need to dispel their beliefs nor ruin their game, indulging them readily within it even if he sees only light patterned upon the earth and no such magical beings. For what harm can come from letting them play their game? He does not need to believe it to enjoy it. Some are simply born….free of judgement and harshness, another lopsided grin given to trace his features as he watches on.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
