The second race in the North Coast Modified Challenge headlined Mothers Day Mod Mania at Lorain County Speedway Saturday night May 9, 2015. Setting the fast time in qualifying was current Modified points leader and the 2014 Modified champion Kenny Phillips. K. Phillips turned in a time of 14.967. The Modified Dash Race winner was Nick Wiery. Heat Race winners were Mike Lawson and Matt Wilson. The winner of the fifty lap feature was veteran driver Mark Smith who won the first race in last years North Coast Modified Challenge series.

The newest divison at Lorain County Speedway, the Crate Sprints, debuted tonight. Modified drivers Craig Phillips and Joe Quinn did double duty tonight, driving in the Crate Sprints as well as the Modifieds. C.Phillips set fast time with a 14. 268 lap. The Heat Race winner was Joe Quinn. The fifteen lap feature winner was also Joe Quinn. Chris Gibbs was the early race leader from the pole. Quinn took the lead on lap four and held off Craig Phillips for the remaining laps to win the very first Crate Sprint feature.

In the Grand Nationals Jeff Fade Jr. set fast time with a 16.422. Parker Ennes won the Dash and Fade Jr. won the Heat Race. The winner of the Grand Nationals fifteen lap feature was nineteen year old Parker Ennes. Ennes finished fifth in the 2014 Grand National point standings.

Brandon Halcomb was the Charger fast qualifier setting a time of 18. 270. Dan Smith won the Dash and the second Heat Race. Doug Barker won the first Heat Race. The winner of the Chargers fifteen lap feature was Dan Smith.

The Chargers were up first tonight for their fifteen lap main. Polesitter Randy Lott was the early leader for the first three laps until Doug Voldan, who started third, took the lead. Voldan led until lap seven when Dan Smith took command of the lead. D.Smith would hold off Halcomb who moved into second in the final lap to take the checkered flag.

The Grand National fifteen lap main saw Bob Lusetti lead lap one before Parker Ennes took the point. Following Ennes was Jeff Fade Jr., looking to extend his feature winning streak to three. Lusetti ran third followed by Matt Black, Luther Hurley and Bobby Schramm who was making his first appearence of the season. The lead duo of Ennes and Fade Jr. pulled away from Lusetti with a full front straightaway advantage. With five laps to go, Ennes continued to lead with Fade Jr. looking for an opening. Fade Jr. backed off in the closing laps as Parker Ennes won his first Grand National feature of the season.

The North Coast Modified Challenge fifty lap feature wrapped up the evenings racing program. The front row was Bailey Delfosse and Mike Lawson. Delfosse led followed by Lawson, Tyler Noeske, Ryan Cypher and Mark Smith. Smith advanced to fourth by lap four, as Cypher fell off the pace. Lawson took the lead on lap seven followed by Delfosse, Smith, Matt Wilson, Joe Quinn. The caution flag waved on lap nine when Sam Tanner spun in turn four. On the restart Smith over took Lawson for the lead. It was Mark Smith, Quinn, Lawson, Delfosse and Wilson the top five. Tanner brought out the caution flag again on lap thirteen for his spin in turn two.

The restart had Smith and Quinn in the front row with Smith rocketing into the lead followed now by Delfosse, Quinn, Jeff Amsdell, and Wiery. Matt Marlowe, who made his first appearence of the season here tonight, spun in turn two on lap thirty three. Smith pulled away again on the restart followed by Quinn, Wiery, Amsdell and Kenny Phillips. K.Phillips got past Amsdell to move into fourth. Last weeks Modified feature winner Jeremie Wiggins ran fifth. Smith and Quinn had a five car length advantage over Weiry, K. Phillips and Wiggins. The battle was for fourth between K.Philips and Wiggins with Wigins getting the position. The lap thirty seven caution was on Tanner who spun in turn two.

On this restart Smith pulled away from Quinn as Wiery and Quinn would then battle for second. It was Smith, Wiery, K. Phillips, Quinn and Wiggins before Tyler Noeske spun in turn two with thirty nine laps scored. Smith again led the restart. There was another caution two laps later, this time involving K. Phillips, Wiery, and Smith all spinning in turn two. K Phillips was charged and sent to the back of the line up. The restart order was Smith, Wiery, Wiggins, Quinn and Marlowe with nine laps to go.

There was a caution on the restart as Marlowe lost power and coasted into the pit area. Smith led, as Wiery and Wiggins battled for second with Wiggins getting the spot. With only five laps to go, Smith led with Wiggins challenging for the lead, Quinn, Wiery and Amsdell the top five. At the finish it would be veteran driver Mark Smith holding off another veteran driver and last weeks feature winner, Jeremie Wiggins, to take the checkered flag and win the second North Coast Modified Challenge series race.
