Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

I had not truly given any thought to the prospect of my evident vandalism and the fact that I had been caught in the act by another pack wolf, young as she was. I was content to offer her another easy grin as she rolled about on top of my felled tree branch, even straightening up a little at her praise of my strength. So shoot me, I’m a boy- I like being told these things and I do come from blood infamous for it’s egotism. Not that I apologise for that, one day I’d truly have something to be egotistical about although for now I am content to keep my own beliefs of my significance to myself- if only for the more modest view it provides. Her mention of my tree breaking ability however only seemed to see me straighten up a little more, tail flicking from side to side in amusement and a little delight at being seen as so entirely powerful that I had managed to outdo her Father and Grandfather. I suppose, realistically, that chances of that are probably not great- but who am I to tell her otherwise, my grin quirking upon my lip once more in delight, shoulder shrugging as if my vandalism had been both intentional and yet no trouble at all before the little girl decided to bow at me, introducing herself as Zelda, Princess of the Plains and Forest. Another Princess? I must attract royalty. One day I would have that title for myself I was sure. I suppose technically I do, I am a Prince- by default, one who won’t ever see a crown, whatever royalty I have in my blood claimed through an Aunt and a Grandfather whom had actually ruled. Her mention of her Uncle Amo-something and my Aunt Shiloh however saw my head tilt. Hmm, maybe one day Zelda and I would share relatives, we’d have the same cousins. I didn’t wholly dislike that thought.

“Zelda is a good name, I like it, it seems familiar though, do you have another relative with that name, maybe in Diveen? I’m sure I’ve heard it before.”

I shrugged once more, head tilted in some manner of considerations- perhaps I had a relative with that name, an Angel. I shook the thought away for now, violet gold eyes meeting her own again as she continued to bounce on the branch I’d knocked down, the limb rocking slightly with the motion. Maybe it wasn’t entirely as heavy as it looked.

“It’s alright if you don’t know Solaris, I don’t know him either, I was just curious.”

I would meet him some day, I was sure, for now though my thoughts had drifted elsewhere, still considering the fallen branch and just how I was going to hide it, after all, surely someone would eventually come along looking for Zelda, that someone sure to ask question I had no intention of answering about what exactly I was doing here and how this branch had come to be felled, my thoughts tangling within my mind. Of all the things Heyel has taught me, covering up this sort of thing really is not one of them. Didn’t want anyone to know I was strong? My attention returned to Zelda then, another grin dancing across my lips as I chuckled.

“I think maybe I should keep my strength a secret until later, so I can surprise everyone whenever it is I decide to be….surprising.”

I grinned once more before my attention returned a final time to the branch, Zelda at least seeming in agreement to this plan as my gaze narrowed slightly in thought and I moved to point towards some bushes that were fairly thick at the bottom of a small slope.

“If we both push it I think we can just roll it into those trees and plants over there, how about that? Then it’s out of the way and no one will accidently fall over it.”

Yes, my entire thoughts were worried about someone accidently falling over it. Sure. For now however it would have to do as I waited for Zelda to jump down beside me, pressing my shoulder into the side of the branch before giving it a shove, gesturing for Zelda to do the same. I was surprised when it actually moved, throwing my shoulder back into it a second time until it rolled forward and onto the slope. What was more surprising though was how fast it actually started to roll, picking up more and more speed as it rolled……right past my intended bushes, crashing towards the centre of the pack land at a rather impressive pace- destroying most everything in its path.

“I didn’t see that coming.”

Both eyes widened slightly before I suddenly leapt after it, paws slapping against the earth as I ran.

“Come on Zelda! We have to catch it!”

Before it ran anyone over.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
