INDIANAPOLIS – Two days and two flips by Chevrolet drivers in practice for the 99th Indianapolis 500 has left some serious concern among teams in Gasoline Alley heading into “Fast Friday.”
With 40 minutes left in Thursday’s practice session Josef Newgarden of Hendersonville, Tennessee spun around and backed his Chevrolet into the turn one wall at a little over 204 mph. Air got underneath his car and it launched into the air, not quite as high as
Helio Castroneves’ flip on Wednesday.
