Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

and when you smile...
the whole world stops and stares for awhile..

Kellin did not know what to expect from life, to be honest. It was part of being aimless, he supposed, but that was alright with him. He knew that eventually he would have purpose, just not when or where. Sabriel had found the purpose of wanting a gypsy tribe back, and although Kellin had been traveling with his brother for so long, he wasn't perfectly sure that was what he wanted as well. Now he wasn't going to just ditch Sabriel if everything worked out, because he wanted that dream to work out for his brother. Plus, he had no other ideas on where to go anyway, unless he counted Tavoria, and he wasn't sure quite how to manage the whole family thing there yet. They seemed nice enough, at least. But that did not mean he belonged there with them.

He thought he had been drawn here for a simple conversation and the idea of another face to look upon, but no sooner had the words left his mouth than he felt that weird luring feeling flare up stronger. It was enough to make him stumble slightly before gaining his footing again. It was coming from her, that strange feeling that warmed him from the inside out. Ears curved forward when she replied, and it took him a moment to remember he'd asked if he could join her in the water. Right. Everything within him screamed to get closer to her, and that in itself was extremely unnerving. How in the world did that work? Still, she had indicated that he was fine to come into the water, and so without more hesitation, Kellin was stepping closer to the water's edge.

Had he realized how pretty she was when he had asked to go swimming? None of this made much sense to him, but with her beckoning him forward, he all but bounced in, blinking the water from his eyes from the impact of his landing before moving deeper in. She was saying something about keeping his paws on the ground or risk a river-ride to Iromar. Well then. "Have you done it?" He inquired, curious as if she spoke from experience or from what others had told her of the process. They were the same height, so he'd be able to touch ground where she did, which meant he could keep up with her. The current, however, might be more of a problem for him, as he was more slender (where she was already a sleek looking thing), weighing less than she did.

It never occurred to him before to wonder about if his weight was unsatisfactory seeming to the fairer sex, and there was that welling need to impress this one that he couldn't put his paw on as far as reason went. What if she thought he looked tawdry? That was an uncomfortable idea to be spinning around within his head. At least she had given him a sort of smile. That was progress, right? But progress for what, Kellin was still trying to take that one apart. He waded closer to where she was, wondering why he wanted to be so close, and if she would allow such a thing. He also craved to touch her, but he did not attempt such a thing right now; too soon and inappropriate.
