The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

The male's steps were casual as he moved forward, tail swinging steadily, sweeping the white along the back of his thighs. His aim for this little trek was to investigate this strange landmark, to learn about the benefits it had that he could perhaps return to another time in time of need. While on the move he learned that it was best to map out the land around where he would be lingering for an extended period of time, making sure that he had a spot for hunting and a few areas where he would be able to hide in case he got into a sticky situation and needed to void a few wolves or larger predators.

Beginning to make his way in however a mass of darkness appeared before him in the tunnel, causing him to stop suddenly, wary. With Rameses' body blocking the light that would have revealed the stranger, he would have to put on a defensive stance until he knew the strangers intentions. With paws planted, his joints bent the slightest, tail sweeping up into the air as his copper hued eyes narrowed. Thankfully the stranger had stopped just ahead of him rather than continuing forward, not that they could either way since there was not enough room in the tunnel to move past one another.

A gentle voice, feminine in tone but pitch indicating a friendliness. He sighed in relief at her single word of greeting, tail dropping and body relaxing almost instantly. Between her speaking and him figuring out she wasn't a threat, for the moment, his ears twitched at the sound of soft splats of dripping water. Did something happen to her to cause the woman to be wet? Face hidden by the darkness and the rays of sunlight around his frame, concern found its way into an expression on his face, not yet worry. She spoke again however, giving her name this time before he could say a word, Vesper.

“Hey,” his own voice came out in a low and friendly manner. The corners of his dark lips slipping upwards in a smile, nose tilting down as his neck lowered his skull in a small dip of greeting. Lifting his head Rameses would be careful with his next few actions, taking a short step forward and motioning towards her, hopefully the light behind him allowing her to see that. “Are you okay miss? It sounds like there is water dripping from your pelt.” Nostrils had picked at the scents floating around him, able to find no metallic scent of blood and only that of water. His voice held a hint of concern but he would keep his distance, unsure whether the woman would be skittish of his movements or would try to lash out to keep him back.
