Glorall

Disaster has struck!
Flooding from the north has taken its toll on Glorall. The large tides combined with the increase in water draining from the Ruieze River has flooded the lower regions of the pack. The sandy soil, compounded with so much water, has toppled a lot of trees. Traveling is difficult even when the water is shallower, with the sandy soil below being difficult to find traction on. The daily tides seem to keep the level of flooding fairly consistent, too.

During the low tide, wolves may be able to move around the higher dunes (with some difficulty) but during high tide, the pack is almost impossible to safely navigate. Swimming is possible, but the risk of currants and surges from either the ocean or the river are very real. The island off of the coast of Glorall is untouched by either issue, although it is incredibly difficult to find your way there without being an adept swimmer with plenty of good luck!

Note: Glorall will reopen once 30 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes. Glorall is currently not open for challenges.

how long will we blame the devils on our shoulders
and pose like angels on the outside

It is rare that another interests me. Her behavior is most curious, after all. She seems almost... injured initially, having moved to seemingly depart. However, she is quick to rebound to something more cheerful, much more akin to her former level of duty. I observe it quietly, merely nodding at her mention of my apparent kindness. I do not think of it as kind. It is merely the logical course of action. Others can see kindness in the strangest of things. I will not dwell on it, however, and instead, I turn my attention back to leading her down the sands of the shore.

It is always entertaining to see newcomers so unsure of the sand. I was the same once but now, it is easy to shift about on top of the ground. There is a certain art of spreading one's toes and dispersing one's weight each step to manage the awkwardness of the movement. It makes fast movements even more difficult. Truly, it is a challenge and yet, I am pleased to see that she is a swift learner. In fact, it almost removes my previous agitation entirely. I am much more content leading her this way. We move as one, and it is certainly much better to do so rather than to fret over such folly things such as alliances. This is as much a break for me as it is for her. Besides, I would rather understand the kind of wolves I am to align myself with. This is a good way to do so.

We move atop the dunes and I am quick to lead her down onto the primary shoreline; I allow myself to slide down the dune, forcing the sand up in front of me into a small mound before I almost hop over it. A small pleasure. There is something relaxing about shifting the earth around like that. It is then that she begins to speak and I turn towards her. It seems her mind instantly returns to the alliance, a fact that makes me almost look away. Instead, I am curious - for her curiosity is piqued and, instinctively, mine is too. She stares down a crab and I step up beside her, lowering my snout down towards it. It instantly stops, throwing its claws into the air.

"Prey," I reply simply, raising my head and meeting her eyes once more, though this time I cannot help but look quite amused. "You should try it."

It is also amusing to see wolves tackle crabs for the first time. Even my first time hunting the creature had been rather pathetic. I had left with a nostril full of blood. Today, though, I have no intentions on letting it win. Instead, I extend a paw, swatting at the sand underneath it so that is might be rolled onto its back. Nonetheless, it is just as quick to turn its attention towards me. Perhaps it will stay focused on me, seeing me as the threat rather than her. Again, I bat at it - an action it responds to with a rather gaudy dance, its claws flailing above it. I glance to her, silently encouraging her to either join in on this game of sorts or to simply take it as prey. Whichever. It will be entertaining nonetheless.

"There are many strange things here. There are even creatures in there -" I motioned towards the sea beyond, the white caps in the distance rolling over Glorall's private isle, "- that outsize any boulder in Moladion."

I had learnt of them after several weeks in the territory. Whales, they were. It is a dream to one day taste them but for now, I have only ever been able to watch them.
