Enocra Woodland

Pine, spruce and firs alike...
Dense coniferous forests cover the woodlands, with clearings, paths and the occasional wildberry shrub throughout. Pine, spruce and fir make up much of the forest in the east, with the forest becoming swampier in the west towards Mecor Valley. In the west, cypress trees dominate, with fallen trees creating bridges across and throughout the stillwaters.

Yin

It made her happy to see the way he lit up when the sky opened up above them. She could not stifle her endless smile, not when her son seemed like an endless reason to do so. She feared for the day something would happen to him, though she hoped it would never come. But even somebody as kind as Meryl had been touched by tragedy, and she had a grande fear that such a thing was common in Moladion. Of course, she had no hesitation about doing her best to prevent it. If that meant having to scour the land for each and every threat, then so be it. But for now, she was glad that her son had made it his first year without something terrible or, well, even mildly upsetting. The worst thing she could think of had been the time a locust had leaped at him - it had terrified him! Now, she was able to look back on the situation and chuckle to herself, but at the time, she had been so desperate to make things right for him. Yin had no doubt that it would never change.

Yin could not help but chuckle beneath her breath at his innocence. She did not look forward to the day that he and Yuki came to a complete understanding about where their food came from, but she hoped that by teaching him about the other aspects of life, it might soften the blow. There was a cycle, and they were just a part of it. It had taken her years as a child to become comfortable with hunting and even now, she had always closed her eyes when she had to do it. There was nothing glamorous about taking away the mother or father, or child, of another creature.

"It means that they go to a new life, somewhere else. But not here. If they are all gone, then there will be none here. Then, packs... loners... everybody goes hungry."

She tried to be gentle about it, but there was never a completely kind way of explaining such things. It had just become a part of her life, after all, and much of her memories of her mother teaching her were distant and blurred. She had to do her best. She tried to keep as positive looking as possible as she spoke about it, smiling down at her son and taking a moment to reach out and lick his forehead once more.

"Like night and day, there needs to be just enough of us and them. If there is not enough of one, then the other gets hungry and tired."

She moved to watch the young rabbit once more, though it had seemingly grown suspicious now. It stared towards them, its big, black eyes wider than usual as its nose bristled. Then, with a kick of its back feet, it shot back into the tall grass. Yin lifted her own nose to the air, tasting the air - fox, she noted to herself. Somewhere nearby, a fox had awoken. Perhaps it had been it that had alerted the youngster.
