I don't hesitate to approach him, even with his bloody muzzle and his prizes at his feet. We live in a pack of killers so a bone graveyard in front of a den should not be a surprise. If anything, I see it as good decorating. I do not fear Eyeless Jack. Maybe I should but I feel like fear is just a weakness and weakness leads to death. Caution, however, is a different story. I am right to be cautious of him. He's much older and wiser than me, not to mention bigger and stronger. He's more sure footed having spent more years on this earth but instead of avoiding him, I would rather stalk him and learn from him. I feel he has a lot to teach me. I saw early on that he is somewhat of a hermit in the pack. He doesn't really get out and socialize but that's fine by me. I'm no social butterfly by any means. When my brother is with me, I'm pretty much mute. I don't talk unless necessary. However, I know how to talk when I'm alone.
I always try to choose my words carefully when I speak. I don't like wasting my breath. I know that Eyeless Jack is protective over the pack though and that means something. He is out at the borders a lot, just walking them and checking out scents. As I approach, I call out, knowing it's best not to trust to stealth in this situation. I need to be straight forward and prove my point so he'll agree to what I'm asking. I know that I'm no threat to him with my posture but I at least want to give the impression that some day, I will be a force to be reckoned with. I am proud and I am determined. I will be a killer some day. I will be someone's worst nightmare. When I'm done, I bide my time, holding my ground as still as a statue. I will not show impatience or doubt. That is for weaker pups, not I. He contemplates and takes his sweet time but at least not he's not turning me down flat. That's a good sign.
Finally he agrees and my lips twitch with satisfaction, the only hint that I am pleased with his decision. While I may be on the inside, I refuse to skip and hop in excitement on the outside. I bow my head in respect and gratitude, blue eyes gleaming eagerly. "I look forward to learning from you. I'll leave you to your...meal, and meet you in the morning for our first lesson." I look at the corpse setting off to the side, thinking of the waste of blood but it's none of my concern so I turn my back on it and leave the scene, wanting to show him that I won't pester him constantly but I will be here bright and early in the morning to learn his teachings. I go do some light hunting, taking down two rabbits by myself and taking some back to the den for safe keeping before I decide to take a nap for the night. When I wake up, the first rays of the sun are just coming over the horizon and I'm up and on my feet, traveling back to Jack's den. I make sure to track down his scent in case he's gone somewhere else. I don't expect him to make this easy after all. I head in the general direction of his den, ready to veer off if his trail goes elsewhere.
