Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

L E A F S H A D O W

Only now does she realize that she had unconsciously introduced herself in a very similar way to how she had first introduced herself to Soricer. Much pride filled her voice when she speaks of her occupation within the pack, but really it just further proved that she needn't be the lead hunter to be proud of what she does. Though perhaps her pride on such could be a little misleading, and names for pack ranks could be confusing to those new around the forest pack. She smiled, with her tail wagging, when he does not hesitate to take her offer of the second raccoon. He gets a little close, but it obviously shocked him more than her, since he backed up. She took another bite of hers, swiping her tongue across her muzzle for anything that might be clinging to it. He sat directly opposite of her, setting down the prey she gave him. Staring, it seemed to be trend among her imprints, not that she minded. Though not vain, there was something oddly satisfying about receiving attention from an imprint. She had to purposely remind herself every so often to glance away, not wanting to stare too much. "Of course." She said inclining her head to him politely. 'He surely seems nice enough; it may be a little harder than I thought to be cautious around him.' She was drawn out of her thoughts by the male clearing his throat, and then introduced himself. "Pleasure to meet you, Mikken." She said dipping her russet crown to him once again.

It was slowly becoming apparent to her that he was feeling the effects of the new bond. He seemed a bit on the speechless and restless side; then again she had been as well, when she and Soricer had first met; perhaps it was thanks to that experience that she wasn't in the same state as Mikken. However no matter how well she hid it, the bond was still affecting her, with her heart racing in her chest. He lifted his leg scratching himself in a somewhat perplexed way. He picked at the raccoon he chose, she took this as an opportunity to take another bite into her own. At his question she restrained an awkward laugh, not wanting to seem rude. 'So, he really doesn't know, well I always did say I liked teaching; but this is probably one of few subjects I wouldn't have minded not teaching.' She glanced down at his questioning look slightly embarrassed and taking a deep breath, preparing to dive into explanation. "Well, first I must apologize if I don't explain this as well as some might be able to, and I know it may be confusing for you. There is a common belief in this land, Moladion that the fates will intervene with our lives; matching males to females. This happening is most often calling imprinting, though it has been called soul bond and soul mate as well. Only males can imprint on females, though the females reaction to imprinting seems to vary; from not feeling anything, to feeling it strongly." She paused taking a breath while thinking of what next to say.

"Some imprints become mates, and others stay friends. However not all imprints go well, in fact some go horribly wrong. It seems to be common belief that imprints are two halves of one soul; really it's a gift or curse based off your own feelings. And that's what's happening to you right now." Her words held no duplicity, only speaking of what she heard and what she had learned from her short time with Soricer; and she hoped Mikken would hear it. It could be a hard concept to believe, even to the point some born within this land still didn't. She pricks her ears to him ready to answer any questions that are sure to follow; hoping to, at very least, help him understand. She was also alert ready gauge his reactions too, she needed to know what he thought of this. To someone who has never heard of this, it could seem a bit too magical to be real; especially when one doesn't grow up hearing about it. Part of her wondered if he’d just laugh saying something along the lines of, ‘You actually believe crap like that? Stop joking around, and actually tell me what’s going on.’ Of course she wasn’t necessarily expecting it, but it wasn’t too far out of the realm of possibility.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
