The air is heavy as you make your way through unknown territory, as you pause to sniff the air a drop of rain falls onto your nose. It is soon followed by another and another and soon the rain is pelting down in sheets, soaking you to the bone. The clouds are an angry purple and the menacing drumming of thunder rolls over the sky. Squinting your eyes against the blinding water you find yourself at the edge of a large, dark pine forest. You are too desperate for shelter to notice the scents that mark the border and plunge in, and nearly into the chilly stream that runs through the territory. You veer away and as you are shaking the water out of your fur you notice a large pair of icy blue shards gazing at you. The storm has passed now and beams of sunlight filter through the thick canopy of pines, illuminating a massive male wolf not three feet away from where you stand.

His pelt looks like a bad patchwork job of black and white and beneath them you see large, hard bands of steely muscle and you know this is a warrior for his torso is marred with many battle scars. His banner curls over his back and his lips are drawn, exposing sharp ivory daggers. When he speaks his voice is deep and dominant, like the thunder you so recently heard.

"Wolf, you have found yourself in the terra of the Andere Seite Pack. I am Eclipse, king of this land."

It is only then that you notice another pair of lanterns gleaming in the penumbra and a dark-pelted fae slinks out into the clearing to stand next to the king, her own banner waves and her green and blue eyes bore into you. She is the same size as most males and a crisscrossing pattern of scars show that she too can take care of herself. Her voice is cold and has a snake-like sound to it yet you can see they are both fair rulers.

"And I am Nephthys, queen of Andere. We don’t care much for strangers so you must make your choice, Submit to us now or flee our lands and never return. If you fail to do either you will have little time left to regret it."

The formidable pair pierces you with their gaze and you feel as if all your secrets spill out before them. You are left with a decision now. Will you submit and take refuge in this dark forest or will you flee and never know what secrets these trees hide? Make haste, you can see that the pair grow tired of waiting.

you're just a puppet

The sun had gone to rest in Andere Seite. The eerie grey hues of spring's dusk had long since faded, and the land was blanketed in the fey colors of the deathly night's embrace. The trees, which appeared so friendly in daylight, had been painted into spectral beings, dark silhouettes against the back lighting of the moon. One casting their eyes to the sky would discover that his mother’s namesake, the goddess Selene, wasn't feeling particularly benevolent on this night. The moon, as it hung suspended in the navy sky, for all appearances was the malevolent eye of some all-seeing monster. The setting of Andere Seite often made newcomers nervous, but for Quirino, the menacing darkness seemed tranquil -- relaxing, rather. He weaved his way among the eerie trees with all the assurance of a devil in its own lair, each step calculated, but not stressed over – his pistons move methodically, creating a steady rythmn. Several days have passed since his duel for the crown, and since then, he has been steadily healing. Aside from a chat with Kronos, his dear younger half-brother, Qui has seen no one, perferring to slip into a more reclusive nature as he waited for the weakness of his chest injury to fade. Tonight, of course, is an exception to his rule of isolation. Tonight, Quirino feels alive.

For years, he has associated Andere Seite with the silence of a crypt. It was been a hallowed ground for the red-coated boy, a grave of dreams where he was forced to defend for the sake of a pride that he truly believed in. Now, it is, if not vibrant, thrumming. The scent of life is about the place, and the motions of wolves – mostly the two sons of Seline that have come here, but also the new comer that had been at the borders and the other, faint scents of past members coming alive – can be easily tracked through the ominously forested lands. In this place, this once-dead place that is now suddenly, inexplicably alive, Quirino cannot force himself to lay low and isolated. He supposed it is linked to the new something that has awakened within him, the primordial beast within his white-rosetted chest that screams that the land and its inhabitants are his by birthright, to be ruled and protected, that drives him out into the heavy night air to explore known territory.

His nocturnal wanderings consist mainly of a languid patrol that is soon interrupted by a gentle, crooning song from the border. An indecipherable, but sharp expression drifts over his features and he turns, heading toward the source of the self-assured lyrics with his tail raised half-mast. He moves swiftly, but does not lope, preferring instead a graceful dog-trot that does not disturb his injured chest. Time has passed since the fight, but while a few days may have been enough his matching shoulder wounds to fade into near-obscurity, it did little to ease the pain in his chest. The deep punctures from her bite and mercifully responded to his meticulous cleaning and remained uninfected and minimally swollen, but his cracked rib would take a few weeks to fully heal. Until then, he would be careful, even the result is that he arrives stylishly late for what could be a most excellent meeting, judging by the heady musk of Cuirass, the half-brother that he has not yet had the fortune to meet, joins that of the femme on the border.

When Qui comes near, he makes no attempt to hide himself in the darkness of the forest, instead striding toward the duo easily, yet still stealthily. As it stands, he can hear the words spoken by his blood and snow kin. He's curious to both the intent behind them and how the woman will answer, but as of yet, he does not interrupt with any sound of his own. With night came silence, after all, and the silence was undisturbed by his padding footfalls. There was a very slight sound of crackling leaves as the large creature paused and placed his rump neatly on the ground not far from the pair. In the darkness, his eyes gleamed slightly, the light of the celestial planet reflecting back in his near-black irises as a glowing pseudo-green. His maw was slightly agape, flashing the tips of his ivory daggers as he scented the air, drinking in the sweet perfume of the cool trees and gentle mist, as well as the scents of the two, which he forever imbeds in his mind. He was not given to the cold art of masking his emotions entirely, and hence his palate held a mild tinge of his curiosity as he observes the two in front of him with greedy dark eyes, drinking in details, like the way his brother's pelt, like his, nearly completely blood hued, save for a splash. Unlike Quirino, that splash of white is not on the chest, but rather on the neck and head. Also differing from Quirino are his eyes, an almost electric blue. The lord remembers seeing a pair of eyes like that Cade's, and later Seline's, lover, and the father of this wolf, the night walker Eric. Once Qui has finished his quick scan of his brother, he switches his stare to the queen, taking in her streamlined body and its multi-chromatic fur.

He decides to interrupt, both to prevent his sudden arrival from being awkward (although he's immune to awkwardness) and because he is curious about the lass. His voice spills into the night air, aimed mostly toward the girl. He's confident that he will have another chance to speak with his half-brother soon, and hopefully alone, and therefore is willing to make this appointment less about his family drama and more about the lovely mundane lady on his doorstep.

“Good evening, I'm Quirino. Feel free to answer my brother's question, but first I'd rather you introduce yourself.”
