It has taken but the course of a day to slowly begin the shifting in my mind, the ability to look at the positives in the situation that has presented itself in my life - and the life of my family - allowing me to see that this move need not be a bad thing. As I had looked upon the beaver the notion rose in my mind that if he could so easily sleep within the same realm as the alligators, then so too could I. To sleep within the confines of a den was not my preference, and if I could find some perch the put me out of reach of wayward predators then I could easily sleep beneath the stars once more. There was much adjusting to be done, but I knew that I could be adaptable if I tried to be. What I needed was to put down some sort of roots here, to make this change a final one in my mind so that I could become accustomed to life within Iromar, and not constantly compare it to that life which I led in Glorall.

My attention was given fully to Aithne as we continued along the riverbank, and when she inquired as to whether any of the ranks stood out to me in my mind I gave my response. Aithne seemed pleased, confident perhaps in my choice as she nodded her approval of such a thing. She mentioned then that the task would not only try my ability in diplomacy, but also my level of trustworthiness. To be an advisor would require such things, but a certain quirk in her voice told me that it was more than just a standard task that any wolf who aimed for such a position would be required to complete. My brows drew together, lifting slightly with curiosity as we came to a stop and she turned towards me to finish telling of the task which would be mine to complete. Lavender eyes were fixated upon those of green, the imperfection of red that pulsated through her right eye adding a certain degree of seriousness to her gaze. Glorall was where I had need to travel, to meet with the very wolf who had mauled my father and stolen my home. It made sense, the truest test that she could give to me to prove my loyalty to my new home and my ability to keep a level head when dealing with other packs. Inwardly I commended Aithne for the challenge she had set to me, despite the way my heart clenched for a moment.

I dipped my head in acknowledgement of the requirements for me to attain the position of Auspex. "I will allow some time - both for myself to settle here and for Eden and his pack to settle in Glorall, but it shall be done." It would be better if my scent was more Iromar than Glorall upon my return, so that Eden was not under the impression that supporters of the old ruler had come back to challenge him. It would be better, I thought, to allow him time to feel out the workings of his own pack even as I felt out the workings of this one. Though I did not know Eden and he did not know me, a lapse of time for both of us would only benefit things in the long run, I thought.

An ear flicked backwards at the sound of the long legged blue bird as he landed back in the shallows of the river. My eyes shifted then, realizing how far into the sky the sun had climbed - already it was midday, and I had taken up much of my alpha's time this day. I did feel much better now than I had when I had moved from the den that morning to greet Aithne. The thoughts about her relationship with Praetor still itched at the back of my mind, but I thought it best to leave such questions for another day - or perhaps for Praetor himself. No, the time had come for Aithne and I to part ways for the day. She certainly had other alphen duties to attend to, and I wished to further explore my new home. Perhaps I would seek out a safe place to sleep under the stars for tonight. Turning my dome back towards Aithne I dipped my head once more. "Thank you for this, Aithne. Perhaps in the time between now and when I leave for Glorall I will find another Iromarian to help me in capturing the young alligators." I gave her a small smile, hoping that these words would only further assure her that I was here to stay. Only when she had said her final piece and moved off would I take my leave, moving further along the river and seeking a safe crossing so I might go further west and discover what the pack's coastline was like.
