What was wanted was obvious, and words might only alert the prey to what was coming. Covet had no intentions of scaring the marsh deer away from being partially stuffed into his stomach, and only those that would survive would understand the needlessness of words to start a hunt. This female proved that she was not fatuous, and that was enough for now. He had his mind on the takedown of the marsh deer, not on what happened afterwards, because there was no use counting bites of meat until it was a sure thing. Covet did not have many doubts on their success rate in this hunt, but there would always be factors that could throw the whole thing off in ways that simply could not always be prevented. Covet did not forget such things.
Yet he had been ready and able, quick to make his move and it had paid off. The deer had done as expected -- tried to protect itself with antlers -- but Covet had already sprung into action beforehand, and as such, was speedy enough that his jaws found their mark and clamped down. His claws held to the deer's flesh and he used that to stay his balance as he jerked his head, grinding his teeth as he did so. It was all too easy to crush the windpipe, to start ripping it out. The marsh deer was down, forced to take the abuse by the female's weight upon it and her attack to it's spine. It was over soon enough, and Covet released his hold on it's neck and was quick to scrunch his neck, chin lowering a little as he stepped closer to the creature's belly.
There was a warning growl given before he began tearing into the deer's innards, grabbing out the liver and gulping it down. Covet hadn't tried to run the female off, or even tried to force her to wait her turn; but he had warned her to let him take what he had wanted from the marsh deer's innard region. After the liver had been removed and scarfed, Covet stepped back towards the creature's throat and shoulder area to finish his meal there. He kept his defences up just in case she decided to pick a fight about it, but for the most part he was calm enough sharing the rest without a problem. Which, in some aspects hadn't really been done a whole lot before. He had shared with one other rogue before on a usual basis, but that had been awhile ago and under different circumstances.
