The forest stands tall and lush here; ancient trees reach weather-twisted arms to the sky, fighting monster-like storm clouds back with their interlacing fingers. Shadow seems to lurk everywhere you look, but it spills calmly, coolly, inspiring a sense of stealthy calm or protection rather than unease. That is, if you've forgotten what kind of creature might be stalking just out of sight...Abendrot is a land cradled by the dark woods on all sides; in the center, some of the larger trees stay behind to reveal a small plateau - a citadel where this pack can gather and defend itself from invaders. There are, of course, softer sides to the land. Clearings here and there allow the sun to throw down its rays in incongruously resplendent gold showers. Ignore the lingering scents of blood spattered here and there along the borders: those do not concern you. The river on one edge of the territory is playful enough when it hasn't been gorged by violent rain. You can choose to note the ragged claw marks raked down tree trunks and the forest floor as friendly "Home Sweet Home" signs, if you wish.

All who treasure loyalty, order, victory, and the occasional indulgence of raw visceral pleasure are welcome, once they've been approved by the ever-watchful eyes of Abendrot's Alpha. But keep one thing in mind: no matter what your motive, this is not a fool's Paradise. This is the land of soldiers, assassins, and spies. This is ABENDROT.

Make up your mind quickly and prepare to prove your worth. You wouldn't want to add to those blood spatters, would you...?

All That I See, Absolute Horror

The femme felt weird coming in so late to the meeting, and for a moment she considered not doing it. Would it be better to go in late and embarrass herself for missing the alpha’s call, or was it better to skip entirely and apologize later in private. Probably best to suck it up and go before him just like the rest of the pack would have done. And so she had slunk her way into the meeting with the rest of her pack, the many vargs that she had not yet met because she had been focused on keeping her family safe. She had kept to herself, and she was now realizing as she saw all these unfamiliar faces that this may have been a mistake and maybe she should have made more of an effort to interact with those in the pack that she was living with. Maybe it would make her trust them with her young more if she got to know some of those that she lived with. The female made a mental note to get to know some of those in the pack in the near future.

The multi-hued female approached the alpha, ignoring the rest of the wolves, not caring what they thought of her, and apologized for lateness, ensuring the ice king that it would not happen again. She was surprised to hear him forgive her, she was not expecting that from one with a reputation such as his. "No need to worry, Azula. We welcome your input on our current discussion." Azula nodded in understanding and thanks for his acceptance of her apology. She then took a seat not particularly close to anyone, anxious still even though Kershov had allowed her tardiness to be accepted. For now she sat in silence, ears attuned to those around her and to the forest behind her, hoping her kin would follow her to the meeting eventually.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The brute made sure to greet the other lupines that had made their way to the meeting, glad to see that he was not late as he was sure some would be. After greeting his King he and introducing himself to the unfamiliar faces he sat beside Engima and Sebastian. He had spoken to the brute a few times in the past, but he had not talked much to the female that had quite a reputation in these parts. He spoke to her, speaking with formalities but also genuinely interested in getting to know one such as herself. Her uniquely colored orbs met his yellow ones as she spoke with a teasing smile. “As well as ever, Grey Wind. And you?” He answered before they were joined by Marx. ”I too have been well. Glad to see some more activity in the pack.” As Kershov begins to address individual lupines more stragglers come to the meeting. Ker gave his usual nod and greeting to him and Sebastian, two of Abendrot’s soldiers, and the grey brute nodded at the greeting, “Good to hear, Grey Wind. It would be a dark day for our army indeed if ever our ranks lacked your teeth.” Grey Wind sat slightly taller at his King’s words as he watched the others come in.

It was not long before the King began his speech, asking those that had gathered to speak up and not to remain silent. The brujo appreciated that the alpha wanted the opinions of his pack, and not just caring about what he wanted to do with Abendrot, though he knew that whatever the alpha decided in the end that the rest would follow him without hesitation. Grey Wind watched as Scarlet Nights strayed by the King’s side, and as this female named Halina spoke of a playful named Draven that she would be willing to share with the alpha’s lover. He was curious where this plaything had come from and why it was here, but really it was none of his business. This new female was the first to speak after Kershov, saying how they needed purpose for their attacks and that they needed both recruits and healers, and Grey Wind nodded his head in agreement with this scarred female’s words.

Then the female beside him spoke, this time about loners. Grey Wind thought this would go well with Halina’s thoughts of needed recruits and adding numbers to the pack would always help. Before anyone else spoke Kershov chimed in again. His ideas on a systematic approach made perfect sense to Grey Wind, and it seemed like something that Abendrot would succeed at it. He then addressed what occurred with this Draven and Halina and how SawTooth had helped. Grey Wind did not like the fact that they needed to rely on another pack to heal one of Abendrot’s and he agreed even more with Halina’s suggestion of needing a healer. But it now seemed that an alliance with Saw Tooth might be possible, and an alliance with that pack seemed like it could benefit Abendrot without harsh consequences.

The large grey brute then took the opportunity to speak up. ”After hearing the details of what happened with this Draven I agree more with Halina’s words. A skilled healer could only help the pack, and it seems like an alliance with SawTooth could help us achieve that. Some of us should head over there to propose terms and see if Kahlan could help us train some healers. Others that stay nearby could help with recruiting new wolves to our ranks, and bring in some loners as Enigma said. When we get new healers we can have them pass on their knowledge to apprentices, while the soldiers train others to be skilled fighters…” Grey Wind was mid-sentence when he was interrupted by a female he did not know. Instinctually his hackles rose and a low growl escaped his throat before he grew silent and his yellow orbs turned to face the female and glare at her, wondering why she could not wait until he was done speaking to give her words.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The multi-hued femme suddenly spoke up, interrupting the brute that was talking, not sure why she suddenly felt bold enough to speak. ”I could help with that.” When she saw the glare that the larger brute was giving her and the angry lash of his tail she quickly apologized. ”I’m sorry, I did not mean to interrupt you. I just wanted to say that I could help train soldiers, fighters. I’ve been working with my two young, Felan and Corde, and training them.” She quickly glanced around, standing up and speaking more easily now, explaining herself to those around her that knew nothing of her past. ”I’ve been trained since a pup to be a skilled fighter, and my son is showing just as much potential. I think he will make a great addition to the soldier ranks. My daughter, Corde, I think could make a great healer, if you would want to consider training her there, with their approval of course. I would be happy to have others join our training sessions as well.”

When Azula finished speaking she stepped back a little, looking apologetically at Grey Wind when she was finished. She saw him nod his head in agreement with her words, and she was glad that she had not made him too angry and that he already seemed to be calm again. He was sitting again next to Engima with his audettes alert to those talking around him. Azula went back to silence, paying attention to the others that would speak and what the alpha would think of her offering.
