Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

I can still make explosions;

Asariel
I need to know I can still make explosions
It wasn't often that I roamed far from the den. While my mind could take me miles from the small clearing that surrounded our home, my paws refused to do the same. Once I had tried to follow Vortigern when he'd wandered off to play with the friend of his whose scent he often wore when he returned home again. Unfortunately, a rather large raccoon had come down out of a tree and properly scared me, so I'd scurried back to the den. Today, however, I had decided it was high time that I expanded my little world. There was so much more out there, beyond where Daddy and Mom disappeared in the trees when they went off to hunt or do other things. So I had chosen a trail that lead away from the clearing, one that was clear and seemed well lit as far as I could see. The path seemed relatively straight, too. Surely if I followed it I would discover many new things but I could easily find my way home again.

Of course it didn't take long for me to become distracted by something beautiful off the path - a flower or a patch of sunlight or something else. I continued to wander, so absorbed in the beauty of my home that lay beyond the clearing that I knew. No raccoons or other woodland creatures popped out to surprise me, and so I just kept on walking. It wasn't until an unfamiliar howl caused my tail to tuck swiftly under my belly and I turned back to run down the path back to the safety of my den that I realized just how far off the trail I'd wandered. The call had come from so close by! Frantically I looked about, trying to find somewhere to hide, and I dove under a nearby bush. But as I listened to the message in the song, I realized this call was for my family - maybe even for me. Wiggling further under the bush, I managed to peek out the other side. Low and behold, there she was, a wolf that seemed to almost sparkle as she sat atop a nearby rock.

I hadn't realized just how far I'd come, that I was so close to the border as this. Frozen with trepidation, I simply stared out from under the bush at the shewolf. Did she call for my family because she meant one of us harm? I had never met anyone outside of my family, and my wide blue eyes searched her over, trying to discern if there was any element of enmity to her presence. So concerned was I with figuring out if this wolf was a danger to my family, that I did not even realize Astraea was approaching until she was standing before the rock and dropping flowers at her paws. Tucked as it was between my hind legs, my tail still gave the slightest of waves at the sight of my sister. When she introduced herself and asked if the glimmering wolf upon the rock was related to Daddy, my wide eyes shifted back up to her. With bated breath I waited, until finally it was confirmed - she was family. An aunt named Celeste. I thought I remembered Daddy having mentioned her before; she was family I reminded myself again, so certainly it was safe to come out now.

Disentangling myself from the bush, I made my way over towards them, ears pulled back slightly and tail still partially tucked beneath my belly as Celeste lectured my sister on how to wag her tail. When I reached Astraea's side my ears finally pricked forward, my nervousness beginning to melt away, confidence bolstered by being near to her. My tail remained dormant, however, not wanting to wave it wrong and make a poor first impression on our auntie. Looking up at the pristine shewolf upon her perch, I gave a shy smile. "Hello; I'm Asariel." My words were spoken more softly than they usually would be when only with my siblings and parents, but by all accounts Celeste was still a stranger to me, even if I knew her name and that she was my aunt.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
