News 08.08.2021
Change was long overdue in Spirane. Now that I have learned who is still an active presence within the pack, the ranks have been updated. As I once took time away from the pack, so too now shall Kalseru. Know that she is still second in command of the pack, as is reflected in her rank. Once you are familiar with the new ranking system, if you would like to change positions or move up in the ranks you need only ask. Let this be a time of new life in Spirane, and a promise of great things to come!

When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies, but the pack survives.

Perhaps she should have taken their leader up on the offer of pack tasks; several had been issued as far as she was aware and yet, she was content to let those older and more ambitious than her to scramble for a place on the hierarchical tree. After all, she supposed she was still young enough to be able to avoid the responsibility of such a thing for the time being; there was other business to learn and she did not wish to back herself into a corner. She had to admit that the idea of specializing, per se, sounded almost maddening. Thus, she is content to continue without those concerns and instead, she spends much of her time merely exploring and continuing to examine the great world around her. There is much to absorb and many wolves to watch in order to understand their complexities. Spirane has been growing, too, which only presented her with more things to ponder.

It is early when she begins to roam the mountain's slopes and crevices, a familiar rumbling in her stomach driving her to find something of substance. She is not a picky eater and often, she took kindly to a snack of insect or egg and yet, today she figures she deserve something actually filling. She has done quite a bit of learning lately, and it is surely worthy of a reward. And so, she creeps along the stone, doing her best to hide her vibrant colouration behind the drab stones and tall reeds. Below her is a rabbit, though it is still quite a difficult distance away: she will need to be quiet and careful to get within running distance. That is a fun challenge in itself as she makes her way forward, darting behind one of the taller stones with just her black eyes peeking out from its edge. She does not expect to be interrupted so suddenly by the word bun.

As soon as the rabbit took off, Pandora immediately tosses her hunt aside. It was a failure even before it had officially begun - it is a frustrating thought, but not one that lingers as she watches the muddy coloured child shoot after the creature. Of course, she has no doubt the child has not a hope in the world to catch the rabbit - they were a challenge even for adults. However, it makes for an entertaining replacement to a meal as the girl finally calls it quits and flops down. She watches for several moments out in the open, having stepped away from her previous hiding spot. Though her stomach protested the idea, she feels the familiar buzz of curiosity. A new find! A child. She was aware there had been an influx of them in Spirane, but she had not yet seen one. It was hard to believe that, apparently, she had been so small and unskilled at one point or another.

With a flick of her tail, she lopes down the mountainside, finding her position some several feet away from the child before she calls out with a quiet yip. She does not get close, however, uncertain as to the exact behavioral patterns of children so young. Do they carry illness? Are they prone to vomiting? She hardly wishes to find out that part of them quite yet, though she is still inquisitive - it shows in her raised brow, her head tilted gently as she moves to speak, raising her voice slightly so the child is sure to hear her.

"When you say bun, do you mean rabbit?" Her question is blunt and to the point, her speech somewhat slower than normal. She is convinced, after all, that children are proto-wolves in a sense: they lack understanding, and thus must be catered to until they grow and learn more. She is, in her own way, attempting to be friendly. "Is bun from another language? There are many other languages, I see, so are you, perhaps, taught in another?"

She ponders this question, shaking her head suddenly. They were foolish questions! If the child was learning another, would she even understand Pandora? She made note of that: she had to learn the other languages as soon as possible. For now, however, she is merely curious about this young one. She will learn and it will keep the thoughts of her failed hunt - and hunger - at bay.
