He had excused himself from the family den with the intention of practicing his training, explaining to his mother that he needed to leave the safety of Aurora in order to test his current stage of education- improving his confidence. Not once since joining the pack and being adopted by Hellene had he even thought about leaving the confines of the pack and so he had kept himself hidden behind the borders, never even exploring the place he had somehow stumbled upon as a pup. But as every year had passed Destan had promised his self that one day he would leave and it just so happened that today was that day.
With no plan of where he was going, the young adult traced his way across the pack lands and towards the invisible border that somehow seemed to keep the demons at bay. He moved across the terra with ease, using his infinite knowledge of the terrain to guide him, as his muscled legs carried him gracefully towards his destination. The scent of Kalgalath alerted him to the presence of the pack boundaries and for a moment Destan paused. His feet quivered at the line, hesitating to lift his paws up and over the scent line, his breaths becoming fast and shallow as he began to panic. I can’t do this. I can’t do it. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid! And he would have turned around and headed straight back to his mother if it hadn’t have been for another small voice in his head. Slowly his body began to unfreeze and gradually he lifted a foot, up and across the border; and with that he cautiously stepped free of the pack lands and took off across Blossom Forest.
The feeling of the wind in his pelt, as he sprinted freely over the terra, was soothing and thrilling at the same time and it tugged the smallest of smiles onto his face. Healthy muscles began to burn with adrenaline as he coursed a path to an unknown destination, finding that for once he felt free of his anxiety. Slowly the trees began to fade away and Destan found the dense foliage was turning into an open clearing. The boy slowed his movement know, taking up a loping trot as he left the remaining trunks behind him. He now stood in a clearing that he had never been before, he would remember if he had. For this meadow was scattered with large stone entities that could not have been put there by any wolf. In awe of the giant beasts, Destan began to walk around and study them, unaware that he wouldn’t be alone for long.
