Loyalty means nothing unless it has at its heart the absolute principle of self-sacrifice ....................................................................................................................................................................................
Kalgalath chuckles when Kong speaks of debts, and makes a show of pulling the meal laid out in front of him closer to him, as if his friend would take it back. They had attempted, previously, to go on a hunt, but it had all been soured when Akina's old mate had showed up, making everything awkward. Kong's chances at a love life had once again been shattered... and Kalgalath could relate. Nika had left him, then Zig had betrayed him... and then Nika had returned and had been disappointed when she had seen what a mess he had become and subsequently left again. His heart hurt and he needed a break from heart ache... such as the pain Magic was feeling even now. Magic, quietly, so that the rest of the pack could not hear her, agreed to talk afterward. She would need a friend now even more then after any of the times he disappeared because now there was no chance that he was ever coming back. Glitch... was dead.
His attention turned to the two new recruits. Rift nods to him and bows and the mottled brute finally smiles at her, relaxing now that all present are part of the pack, the older members already trusted... And the two new ones accepted by their submission and unspoken vows of loyalty. "Welcome, Rift, to your new home. Welcome to Aurora Borealis." His electric blue gaze turns to Universe, at whose side Hellene has sat. After addressing him, the brute introduced himself as such with a smile and affirmed that the Zeta had in fact greeted him at the border. Kalgalath nodded before addressing both of them in turn. "Of course, you both have the run of the lands. There are a few empty dens that you are more than welcome to inhabit, or you may make your own. One of the older members can give you a tour after the meeting should you wish, or you may explore it by yourself. If you feel the need to focus your talents upon a certain area and need help finding a mentor, let me know. As of right now, the only true specialist we have within our borders is Hellene here, who is a talented healer." The timberess smiled at the two new wolves briefly, dipping her head in greeting to them.
The King turned his gaze to the pup settled between Magic's limbs, quiet and shy. In fact, he reminded Kalgalath of how Destan had been when he was younger - scared of the world. "Feel at ease, Tarly, for this is your new home. No harm shall come to you within these borders; you are safe here. This I promise you." The brute's deep voice came softly and slowly, hoping to soothe the pup's nerves - Kalgalath would always have a soft spot for them...
Speaking of Destan, he and his sister addressed him and the brute was hardly able to hide his surprise when he discovered just how much Destan had matured. Not only was he able to stand instead of cower before the entire pack, he was able to do it while making a joke about his pelt. Kalgalath smiled down at the two, laughing once more. "I believe you Khaleesi! Have you decided where your future will take you? How about you, Destan? Have you given it any thought?"
When Kalgalath fell silent, Hellene turned to talk to Universe for a few brief moments, his words once again flabbergasting her as he flirted. She was unsure how to respond and so ignored the tone as she so often did. "Well then we can do the tour after this is concluded. This here is my daughter Khaleesi and my son Destan. And... as Kalgalath already mentioned, I am the resident healer. But just remember that as easily as I could help ease your pains... I could make them worse too." Though the words were meant as a joke, Hellene had a poor sense of humor and the phrase came off as dry and threatening, her throaty voice devoid of anything feministic. Athene, her sister, was the more graceful and feminine of the two... she had more class. Hellene, on the other hand, was crude but was straight to the point and honest. However, as with Kalgalath, pups were her soft spot, and though her own two were grown into adults, she still saw them as the babes they once were. Her maw parted and she laughed a bit when her daughter questioned Universe. "As he says, I met him upon the boundary of the pack, Khaleesi. That is one of my jobs as member of the ranked hierarchy - patrolling. Ensuring that no strangers pierce our terra without permission and keeping us all safe." Softly, she turned her gaze to her son as he pressed against her and she touched her nares to his nape, comforting him affectionately. "I am so proud of you, my dear boy. You have grown so much."
It was almost time to continue with the pack meeting, but when his gaze surveyed the crowd before him, still his daughter was not present. He did not know why as of yet, but he was beginning to worry. As she had grown, she had swiftly grown independent, that was true. She was often late... but not this late. He was sure that all present would understand... but if she did not show soon, he would start without her, appointing ranks in her absence.
