Change was long overdue in Spirane. Now that I have learned who is still an active presence within the pack, the ranks have been updated. As I once took time away from the pack, so too now shall Kalseru. Know that she is still second in command of the pack, as is reflected in her rank. Once you are familiar with the new ranking system, if you would like to change positions or move up in the ranks you need only ask. Let this be a time of new life in Spirane, and a promise of great things to come!

When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies, but the pack survives.

but we're the gladiators

Quickly I had moved back to my den to collect Elowen in the aftermath. I was unsure of Goliath's location, but my son would be allowed to make his own choices as I loped alongside my heart and soul mate towards where Isola waited. Many of the pack gathered - the majority, in fact. Nearly the entire population of Diveen moved away from their home, migrating for the most part together towards the northern reaches of Moladion. The fur of my sides mingled with that of Elowen, softly reassuring her that we would make a new home together. Each time that Isola's gaze flicked back towards me, I stood tall, eyes conveying my confidence in her and my loyalty to protect the pack no matter where we went. For she had spoken truly - pack was more than the land we stood upon. No blood ties connected my family to Isola's, but the angels were just as much a part of my family as the wolf that moved at my side. This Covet who had removed our family from our rightful home may have thought himself successful in disbanding the Angels, but he could not have possibly been more wrong. There was evidence enough in the way that more than twenty wolves evacuated the red plateaus and canyons of the east. The first to part ways with our troupe were Elijah and Stella as they moved to the northeast. And as we moved ever to the north another, larger group moved to follow a different - albeit familiar - trail. Azrael and his family would go to Taviora it seemed, and part of me wanted to send Elowen with them so she might take refuge with my mother. But instead, as the mountains loomed before us and Isola glanced back at me once more, I nodded to her and turned to move back in the direction we had come from. Before I departed I buried my nose deep in the fur of Elowen's neck, nudging her softly and encouraging her to carry on towards the mountain with Isola.

While the trek to Spirane had been made at an easy pace, allowing both the young and old to keep up, as soon as I was free from the group I took off at a gallop to expedite my travels back to Diveen. As the shield of my pack I had ensured their safe travel to where we would live until such a time that Diveen was ours again. For I held little doubt in my mind that within the year the tyrant would be overthrown by one descendant of Heyel or another. But now my duty was to my King, and I would not let Kane struggle across the distance to Spirane on his own. Though I was unaware of the extent of his injuries, they were sure to leave him vulnerable in one way or another, and I would not allow him to fall prey to the cannibals that ran rampant in the free lands. I crossed the miles back to Diveen's borders in half the time it had taken us to move within the shadow of the mountain. The first thing I discovered was the battle sight, strewn with blood and the soil scratched up from the fight. My nostrils flared as I sniffed at the remnants, catching Kane's scent with ease and moving to follow the drip drop trail of blood that moved away towards the creek that bordered Diveen to the north. Across the flat landscape it was easy to spot Kane from a distance as he pulled himself from the waters. I quickened my pace, rushing to his side even as his legs threatened to collapse beneath him.

I pressed my shoulder into him, catching his weight and helping him to regain his balance. He leaned heavily upon me for support, and I gave it willingly as he breathed a thank you to me as we slowly began to move forward. I wanted to tell him that thanks were not necessary, that I was only doing what I felt in my heart was right by coming back for him. But instead I merely said, "You're welcome, Kane, " and gave him a meaningful look as we continued on our way. The going was slow, and I adjusted every stride I took to support Kane in any way possible. I lent him my strength both physically and emotionally, ears remaining steadfastly pointed towards the mountain even though the whimpers that crossed my King's lips begged my ears to fold back in remorse. Finally the mountains loom closer, and the gathering of wolves just within the foothills became our destination. As we grew ever closer I spotted Isola and Daenerys off to the side, as well as Calliel. Kane tried to call out to them, but when his voice failed him I released a resounding bark to catch their attention even as Daenerys glanced up and over Isola to see us approaching. When he reached them I stopped, and Kane attempted to stand on his own, but I was prepared when his weight collapsed back upon me once more. I looked to him as his head lowered, but before I could offer him any further support Isola was upon me.

My ears pulled back as her form collided with mine, bracing myself so that Kane would not be displaced from the support of my body. My head lowered slightly, licking at Isola's chin as she lavished her affections upon me. When Kane spoke her attention was diverted from me, and I stood as a sentinel beside my King. Despite the lack of a throne upon which to stand, Isola and Kane would forever be my Queen and King, and until such a time as one of their descendants took up the mantel in Diveen, then I would continue to serve them as such. Isola spoke to Kane, and then to Daenerys, until finally she moved to relieve Kane's weight from me and take it upon herself. For a moment I lingered, assuring that all was well, before I dipped my head to both of them - as well as Daenerys - and turned to move back towards the larger gathering of Diveen wolves. I moved past another child of Isola and Kane as I departed, seeking the form of Elowen and to ensure that the rest of the pack had made the final stretch to Spirane safely.
